This is a story of the fleeting first love, the loss of our special someone, and the rediscovery of one’s self after the hardships that have gone by. Following the journey of Jung Hui-wan in her last week of life, we see the story of two souls who have loved but also lost each other on the way.

Jung Hui-wan is a young woman who has no will to live and lives in solitary. However, everything changes for her when her childhood friend and first love, Kim Ram-u, appears in front of her, leaving her shocked. She doesn’t believe that he is in front of her as she died 4 years ago until he tells her that he is now a grim reaper and that she has only one week before she dies. He is now to accompany her in her final days of life to make her filled with the life she once had within her, but will that ever be possible?

Hui-wan and Ram-u were once best friends who also held feelings for each other but couldn’t reveal them due to their own reasons. After an accident caused Ram-u’s death, the once bright personality of Hui-wan changed, and she became a dull person with no life within her. Now, seeing him appear in front of her and saying these words brings back those forgotten feelings again. Similarly, Ram-u wishes the best for her and gets her to make a bucket list of things to do before she dies.

Together, they carry out her list to fulfil her final wishes. But an uncanny love between a human and the grim reaper is sure to follow when they have held feelings for each other for so long. What will be the result of this love story when only an end awaits them both?

Way Back Love Cast

Directed by Choi Ha-na, the show stars Gong Myung and Kim Ram-u, Kim Min-ha as Jung Hui-wan, Jung Gun-joo as Lee Hong-seok, Oh Woo-ri as Yun Tae-gyeong, and other cast members. Gong Myung was previously seen in the hit 2021 Korean drama Lovers of the Red Sky and the 2019 Kdrama Be Melodramatic. Meanwhile, Kim Min-ha played a lead role in the well-acclaimed Kdrama Light Shop and the hit show Pachinko.

Way Back Love Release Date

The show is set to be released on April 3rd, 2025, on TVING for viewers as well as on Viki for international viewers. The show consists of 6 episodes, with the first two episodes releasing on April 3rd.
