Walking on Thin Ice Episode 5 Recap

The episode opens with Eun-soo proposing the idea of giving a limited-time deal on the purchase of their stuff, hoping to get everything out as soon as possible. After making a ton of money thanks to her superior marketing skills, things come crashing down when Tae-gu and Kyeong-do make an appearance at her house. She, of course, completely refuses any knowledge about him and passes it off as a casual acquaintance that she made while she was a cleaner at the club.

However, Tae-gu refuses to buy her words. He tries to nudge her to tell her the truth about the drugs, but she gives him a very believable fake story about the club. Even Kyeong-do doesn’t find anything in the house after some intense searching, and the two have to wonder whether there is any truth to their claims. Meanwhile, Eun-soo struggles with guilt as she wonders whether she truly is the nice person everyone thinks of her but with the goal now looking achievable, she decides to push through.

As the police continue to find holes in Eun-soo’s story and look for evidence, she continues to have bad thoughts about what she is doing and starts getting nightmares about getting caught. However, Kyeong tries to convince her to keep dealing drugs because it’s a great way to make a lot of money quickly and fulfil all of her dreams and wishes. The idea starts to feel more lucrative as she sees some of the finer things in life that can be hers, while Yeo-ju fills Do-jin’s head with worry about the police coming to his house.

Meanwhile, when thefts occur at Su-a’s school, everyone starts to doubt her because she is the least financially stable out of the lot. Out of jealousy, Mi-yeon points her finger right at Su-a in front of everyone, leaving Eun-soo extremely embarrassed. Thankfully, Kyeong is by her side, but ultimately, Mi-yeon refuses to back down. Elsewhere, someone breaks into Eun-soo’s house in search of the drugs and sends Dong-hyun a picture of her house.

Later that night, Kyeong goes out to have dinner with Eun-soo and Su-a for the latter’s achievement and comes across his brother, and it’s clear that they share a tense relationship with one another. However, Eun-soo lightens his mood, and he opens up about his life just a little bit. In turn, she shares that she never wants anyone to mess with her life as Mi-yeon did, and he proposes that they keep working together to make that happen. However, their tender moment is interrupted when two masked men try to strangle them, leaving them both struggling to stay alive.

I have to ask every time I watch these sequences in TV shows whether anyone is really behaving like this in public in front of other people. Mi-yeon attacking Eun-soo in front of an entire classroom of people and two teachers is honestly baffling to me and makes me question whether I believe anything else in the show. Regardless, the episode was equal measures enraging and hopeful, although wanting a character to continue selling drugs to live a life of luxury is probably not a good thing!

Either way, the series is getting more and more intense, and I am here to see the chemistry between the leads crackle more and more around every turn!
