Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 9 is the ninth episode of the latest season of one of the most anticipated sequels of this year. Vinland Saga is an action, adventure, and drama series directed by Shuuhei Yabuta and based on an original manga written by Makoto Yukimura. The latest season is being animated by Studio MAPPA.
A tale set in the golden age of Vikings, Vinland Saga follows Thorfinn, son of the greatest warrior ever to set foot in the world, Thors. Even after Thors moves away from the violence he had been embroiled in since his youth, it finds him and his family anyways as he tragically lost his life to the same people he once deemed his fellow warriors. Thorfinn swears vengeance and vows to defeat the person who started it all and to find the fabled Vinland, a paradise somewhere west.
Season 1, or the prologue of the series, saw Thorfinn become a vassal of the newest king of England and Denmark, Canute. However, in a tragic turn of events, he was unable to avenge his dead father by killing Askeladd, as he tragically lost his life trying to save his homeland from being invaded by the Vikings. Thorfinn must now find a new purpose in life, one that doesn’t involve revenge and eating his life in a fruitless pursuit. It is time to see how Thorfinn grows as a person.

Thorfinn and Einar don’t have many things left to live for. There’s the promise of eventual freedom from their owner, but that dream feels even further from reality now that their field has been destroyed. Not only that, but they punched the life out of the retainers who did this to them, which is a big no-no in these times. It is going to be interesting to see how these guys get away from it this time and if there’s some humanity left within Ketil still.

This season is still about Thorfinn and his redemption in his own eyes after all that has happened to him. The preview displayed him still being haunted by similar dreams and seeing Askeladd after supposedly not being angry at him anymore. Does this mean everything is back to normal for him, or are things going to be even worse from here? Either way, he needs Einar at this point, and with what they just did, that might not be a thing for much longer.

As the duo are helping out Ketil’s old man with fishing and discussing Thorfinn’s past, their field is ravaged by the retainers and their year’s worth of work is destroyed. Thorfinn tries to hold Einar back from going after the retainers but is unsuccessful.
