Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 was funny and entertaining. If you want to know the detailed review read ahead.

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Overview

Urusei Yatsura returns to breathe new life into the “boy meets extraordinary girl” genre. This anime masterpiece combines elements of comedy, romance, and sci-fi, enriched with a generous dose of humorous gags.

Once again, the series boasts a talented trio of directors at its helm. Among them is Takahashi Hideya, renowned for his contributions to Sword Art Online, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru, To LOVE-Ru, and more. The other directors include Kamei Takahiro, known for his work on Enen no Shouboutai, Captain Tsubasa (2018), and others, as well as Kimura Yasuhiro, who lent his expertise to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

Episode 5 of Urusei Yatsura 2nd Season can also be called the 5th episode of うる星やつら第2期.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Review and Recap – Ataru Wants To Switch Places

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Review Mendo Does Not Want To Get Married

Hilarity continues with this episode as we see the aftermath of Mendo meeting his fiance for the first time. The episode opens with him having the best dream of his life, which is being in a harem of women and getting asked to get married by all the girls of the Urusei Yatsura anime. But soon, that dream turns into a nightmare when his fiance, whom he thinks looks hideous because of her metal armor, marries him, and others only cheer.

Mendo wakes up and decides enough is enough; he will cancel the marriage after meeting with her. But that definitely does not happen as his father forces him to get engaged on the same day he meets his lady. Thankfully, he is surrounded by very helpful friends who definitely do not think of exchanging places with him, well Ataru is an exception.

Ataru, Lum, and Shinobu come to save Mendo because Lum and Shinobu think they are doing good. Only later do they understand why Ataru has been so keen on helping his sworn enemy. There is an extremely cute girl inside the armor who is just afraid of men. And, not just that, her Androphobia has become worse after Ataru jumped on her with his perverted intentions.

Things become absolutely chaotic when Mendo also finds out that his fiance is not at all ugly, but very beautiful. Now, they must approach this new lady without making her beat the shit out of them, as she is stronger than anyone.

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 5 Review Mendo Does Not Want To Get Married

This episode was again very funny and very random, just what you can expect from Urusei Yatsura. You really cannot expect a sane moment from this series, as nothing proceeds as you would expect. The characters are crazy, and they do bizarre things without batting an eye. If you want something lighthearted and funny after a rough day of work, this is the series for you. You do not have to be serious to enjoy this, nor do you have to understand intricate plot twists. And the best part? Every episode feels like a new one.

Verdict

In this episode, Ataru again tries to be discreet and thinks no one will notice if he can just switch places with Mendo. He truly is a despicable man, but that makes him oddly endearing and his antics very humorous.

I expect the next episode will also be as much enjoyable.
