Urusei Yatsura Episode 22 Review and Recap – Fox Falls in Love

Episode 22 is here, and we are back again with another review. Today’s episode starts with a scarecrow selling some suspicious bottles in a faraway land. Apparently, he can’t make business because nobody is willing to buy his bottles. That is when he spots Ten and tries to convince him to give up his lollipop and have one of his bottles, which is magical as it can make big things small. Hearing this, Ten becomes extremely excited to show it to Lum the next day.
Things do not go as Ten plans, as the moment he points the bottle toward Lum’s direction, she shrinks and gets captured inside the bottle. She breaks free from it but remains the size of a palm. Now the only way she can revert back is by finding the man who was selling those bottles. But the situation is not as bad because she becomes somewhat successful in making Ataru care for her while she is this vulnerable.
Ataru tries his best to show that he doesn’t like Lum, but from time to time, we can see his true feelings, where he lets us know that he does care about her a lot.
The next segment focuses on Shinobu, who one day comes across a small fox being bullied by some dogs. She quickly saves the fox and takes it to the police station. But the fox falls in love with her, and thus he follows her even to her school.
Because he sees Ataru with Shinobu, the fox thinks that he might be an important person to her hence, he takes his form and infiltrates the class. This part was really funny as everybody could recognize what was happening, but nobody cared as long as their purpose was being served.

We also got another small segment after the ending theme, where we saw a competition taking place to elect the queen of Ataru’s school. After eliminating everyone, the top five girls were Ran, Shinobu, Ryunosuke, Sakura, and obviously our Lum. Who wins the competition will be revealed in the next episode.
Verdict
This episode, again, was pretty funny and quite entertaining. The constant banter between Lum and Ataru might sometimes make us feel that he hates her, but we know the truth. Catch the last episode of this season next week. Watch the anime on HIDIVE if you haven’t yet.
