Urusei Yatsura Episode 15 Review and Recap – Lum’s Fault

Episode 15 is here, and we are back again with another review. The episode begins not with Lum but with Ran. We see her getting some food for her beloved Rei, who clearly gives attention to her because she gives him food. But in their next meeting, something unexpected happens. Rei actually kisses Ran’s cheeks.
Ran, having waited for this moment her entire life, shouts out that this is the happiest moment of her life. She invites Lum over to tell her about this magnificent moment. Hearing this, Lum becomes genuinely happy and even congratulates Ran because her friend has finally got the love of her life.
Seeing Lum behave like this, Ran becomes perplexed and realises that Lum might be her true friend. Thankfully their relationship gets better, but the moment Lum returns to Ataru, a surprise awaits her.
It is none other than Rei, who is there to see Lum, as he is missing her. And coincidentally, Ran comes to Ataru’s house as well. After she sees Rei with Lum, a huge quarrel ensues, and she blames Lum for betraying her. But the mystery behind the kiss get solved finally, and we know Rei was not kissing Ran because he loves her but for something else altogether.

The next part focuses on why Ran is so angry with Lum, all the time. We get a peak into their childhood days when Lum became the reason Ran would frequently get in trouble with her mom. Lum obviously caused problems without realising her friend was getting in trouble, but Ran is still angry about it, and nothing can faze her.
After the ending song, we see another part where Sakura concocts a love potion for Lum and Shinobu. Lum uses it on Ataru and even gets a quick confession from him. But after that, he starts to behave weirdly, where he would tell exaggerated lies to anyone and everyone he meets. Ataru even goes to Shinobu and confesses to her as well. When the girls confront Sakura, they get to know that Sakura accidentally created a potion where one would become a loudmouth liar.
Verdict
Every time Ran came on screen, the episode became entertaining because of her unique antics. She might be bipolar as one moment she is sweet as sugar, and the next moment she is the devil incarnate.
But perhaps it was indeed Lum’s fault behind this drastic transformation. Today’s episode was funny and it can definitely generate some good laughs. Watch the anime on HIDIVE if you haven’t yet.
