Untamed Ending Explained
The episode opens with a woman plummeting down El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park, much to the fear of two climbers, who bear the brunt of her fall. ISB agent Kyle Turner turns up at the site and starts to investigate, and quickly realises that something is amiss. With Lawrence on their case, Kyle and Paul Souter rush to get to the bottom of the mess.
Kyle gets Naya as his partner the next day, and the two start to investigate on horseback. They soon find an abandoned shack where they realise that Jane Doe was taking shelter there. Nearby, they find a bloody pair of shoes, probably the work of coyotes. Following the path of blood, Kyle finds a bullet lodged in one of the trees, which the medical examiner confirms.

With not a lot to go on, Kyle investigates a local hunter and the squatters, but comes up with nothing. He also questions Teddy about the gold tattoo found on Jane Doe and dangles his stash of weed for answers. He later asks a local tattoo artist about it and then promptly ends up dead. His body is discovered by visitors, while Naya runs facial recognition on Jane Doe and a young missing girl from years ago, Lucy Cook.
In a surprising turn of events, Jane Doe turns out to be the missing girl, leaving Kyle conflicted. With the heat rising from higher-ups and Sean Sanderson’s case getting pulled out by his family, Kyle follows up with the tattoo artist while Naya, roaming around the park on horseback following clues, ends up falling into the mines.
What happened to Lucy?

We see in flashbacks that Lucy was indeed living in the parks with another friend, after having a rather traumatic time at her father’s house after her mother’s death. She got into the drug business after she started dating a guy in secret and found that a guy called Pakuna might have the answers that they are searching for. They arrest him and then let him go, intending to follow him, and it turns out that there’s a full-blown drug business happening inside the mines. Investigating further, they find the lab, but before they can look further, the perpetrators blow it up.
They eventually come across another camp and find a dead body and some of Lucy’s stuff. After arresting the head of the den, things seem to quiet down, with the others satisfied with pinning the ordeal on him. However, Kyle isn’t convinced and decides to pursue the matter further, even when he’s suspended. Things get easier when he finds Lucy’s phone and goes to the morgue to unlock it using face detection. In her phone, she finds evidence that Lucy has been in contact with Shane, and he’s also a part of the drug business.
What’s the mystery? Who is the real father?

With Shane under suspicion, Kyle rushes to confront him and is immediately shot. Now being followed, Kyle runs around the park before falling down exhausted, and just as he’s about to be shot, Naya arrives and shoots Shane instead. With the mystery now solved, Kyle decides to pursue Lucy’s past and figure everything out.
It results in him requesting the DNA results once again from the lab and realising that Lucy’s father was none other than Paul. He was tired of Lucy coming by to get money out of him, and in a heated moment, he shot her. Lucy ran off, thinking that he was going to kill her, and by the time she reached El Capitan, she decided to end her own life. Disgusted with his friend, Kyle makes up his mind to get Paul arrested, but he refuses to give in and, instead, ends his own life.
Who is Sean Sanderson?

The truth about Caleb’s death comes out as well – Sean Sanderson had killed Caleb and was caught thanks to Shane’s motion cameras. In a bid to take revenge, Jill paid Shane to kill Sanderson without letting Kyle know, unable to bear him going to jail for doing something so heinous to Caleb. Jill and Kyle eventually make up, and Kyle finds peace in the forest, now finally being able to say goodbye to Caleb.
