Unmasked Episode 7 Recap
Starting off last week, Han Do tries to justify his actions and promises that he didn’t do anything other than expose her ex-boyfriend’s affair, after which someone hacked his account. However, So-ryong is uninterested in his excuses and attacks him and then tells him that she is uninterested in what he has to say. In more frustrating news, it turns out that the man who was arrested for stalking Ga-yeon was hired by someone and, according to the police, had nothing to do with her or Ho-seong.
In today’s episode, Han Do decides to investigate a shaman whose deity apparently keeps showing her a Trigger logo and begging her to post on the forum. Meanwhile, So-ryong gets a phone call from Ho-seong, who asks her to visit him in prison. His creepy and intense personality scares both So-ryong and Gi-ho, and Ho-seong assures her that he is uninterested in Ga-yeon at this point. He then proceeds to brutally attack the doctor. She later ambushes Dr An Myeong-seok, the doctor attending Ho-seong and tries to ask him questions regarding the patient, but he makes a run for it.

Seeing the doctor’s reaction, So-ryong takes it upon herself to prove that Ho-seong’s diagnosis was forged and sets out to prove her theory. She takes Han Do with her to an out-of-town adventure and talks to Choi Ge-on, Ho-seong’s father. On the boat there, So-ryong questions Han Do’s decision-making and asks him his next steps if the others pin this entire Dr Trigger mess on him. He seems aloof though and tells her that he would assist her in the Cha Seung-wook case, on Hyeong-tae’s orders.
Later, So-ryong meets Ge-on and questions him about his son’s diagnosis. He gives diplomatic answers but when Han Do goes at it with the veiled accusations, he seems a bit shaken. The journalists are left to wonder whether or not he has anything to do with the stalking. Back at the office, an informant comes up who admits that he was the one who stalked Ga-yeon — interestingly, Wu-kong seems very keen on giving away any and all information about his role in the stalking case. However, he does tell them that the guy who hired him is a civil servant because of the hours he was reachable.

So-ryong gets another late-night call from Ho-seong, who tells her that one of Ga-yeon’s old acquaintances is a big fan of his. So-ryong suddenly comes to the horrifying realisation that it’s probably Ga-yeon’s new boyfriend who is the culprit behind it all. They immediately start to keep an eye on her and Na-hee shares her feelings surrounding airing Ga-yeon’s incident, telling So-ryong a terrifying secret. However, So-ryong convinces her to air the episode regardless so that they can save more people instead of just one. Na-hee is left frustrated, but can’t do anything but accept it.
The next day, So-ryong meets Lee, Ga-yeon’s current boyfriend, Lee Mu-o, and asks him how he knew where Ga-yeon was the night after the first stalking incident. Just then, she receives a call from Wu-kong, who gives her a very interesting tidbit about the stalker. Back at the office, they get distressing news about sending Ho-seong back to prison but So-ryong isn’t bothered and fights ahead to find more clues.

She meets Ho-seong at prison later and tells him about Ga-yeon’s wedding to Mu-o. Ho-seong immediately looks angry and lets it slip that Mu-o is the one who is his admirer. His anger overtakes him soon enough and So-ryong goads him on so that he slips up his act. Ho-seong shows her Ga-yeon’s stolen ring and she immediately takes it from him. Ho-seong’s personality changes and he pleads with her to give the ring back but So-ryong sees right through it and catches him in the act. He then lunges at her and breaks her camera, but it turns out that she has something else up her sleeve.
Going back to when she met Mu-o, it turns out that he isn’t the stalker, it’s another teacher Kim Bo-min, who got obsessed with the shooting case and let Ga-yeon’s location slip to Mu-o, as well as putting Ga-yeon’s life in danger. The case is finally solved and Ga-yeon implores So-ryong to treat her case with respect so that others don’t have to live a life like her.

Afterwards, Han Do takes Ji-yun and Mo-ka with him to meet the shaman from earlier, much to their disappointment. The shaman shares that everyone in the vicinity has been performing the same ritual for the wellbeing of the kids of a family, but no one knows who it is. Whoever performs the ritual, however, always has something bad happen to them. She asks them to figure out who is behind the ritual, but viewers get a glimpse that it might be Ge-on.
On the other hand, we see Ge-on visiting Ho-seong in the hospital and the latter begs for his help to not go to prison. He further begs to get rid of So-ryong and blames her for everything that is happening to him. His son’s mental state distresses Ge-on, who promises to do as asked. Unfortunately, he ends up killing him, after realising that he can’t fix him and Ho-seong will only end up hurting more people. Meanwhile, So-ryong confronts Song-i about the wall graffiti, who breaks down and admits that she was only looking out for her. So-ryong decides to fire her.
In the last scene, we see Cha Hae-won looking at Han Do mysteriously from the other side of the street and it turns out that she is the last informant of this case.
Unmasked Episode 7 Review

What an intense ride this episode has been, full of twists and turns! I. think I love the format of the series, with every episode, in spite of having different storylines, being connected in one way or another. Every character is important and has something to do with the larger tapestry as a whole. Thus, when storylines from a few episodes ago get solved suddenly, it gives an odd satisfaction! I am intrigued to see how Hae-won falls into this entire thing, as I really enjoy watching Choo Ja-hyun quite a bit. Plus, as we learn more about Han Do, Jung Sung-il is getting more and more enjoyable to watch — he’s fantastic in his role. I think So-ryong is a bit of an expected character, but her unending confidence and wit always take me by surprise.
