Unforgiven MV brings yet another fierce track from LE SSERAFIM which also features record producer Nile Rodgers of the disco band Chic. It is the title track from the group’s first studio album of the same name and accurately sums up their whole discography since the debut.
The album consists of 13 tracks in total with new versions of their previously released songs like The World Is My Oyster, Fearless and Blue Flame. Also, three songs from their second mini-album are also included – The Hydra, Antifragile and Impurities. The newly released tracks are: Burn the Bridge, Unforgiven, No-Return (Into the Unknown), Eve, Psyche and Bluebeard’s Wife, Fearnot (Between You, Me and the Lamppost), Flash Forward, and Fire in the Belly.
LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) originally consisted of six members but the current and final line-up consists of Sakura, leader Kim Chae-won, Huh Yun-jin, Kazuha, and Hong Eun-chae. They debuted in May 2022 with the title track Fearless and instantly found success among the public as the song was pretty viral & made many dance to its tunes for social media challenges.

The music video starts off in a Western movie style, with a hovering camera going through a restaurant to find the member Kazuha, sitting. She then steps onto the table and starts the song with the catchy hook of the song ‘Unforgiven I’m a Villain’ and then zooms out to reveal all the members of the group, standing on the tables and doing the signature step (making horns on the head), which we will be seeing more in upcoming dance challenges.
The Hyun-jin carries the song next, set against the backdrop of a helicopter with the group’s name on it. While the lyrics suggest that they make their own rules & won’t be simply following the restrictive rules of the society that binds them. They share that in the past they used to feel powerless, losing every fight but not anymore as they create their own era, even if they get branded as a villain. Visually it’s shown as their angel wings catching fire but instead of feeling powerless, Kazuha just rips the burning wing to show she can still survive & is strong enough to carry on.

Stylistically, the video uses black and white colours to signify losing innocence and adapting to the dark side. In the second half of the song, only Hyunjin is seen in a pink outfit, which feels similar to their debut track’s outfit (also refers to the word ‘Cinderella’ in the lyrics) and by the end of the song they are seen in denim, against a similar setting as their last track Antifragile.
The creative director of the music video is NU KIM and it was directed by Yang Soon-sik in Thailand, as it was reported earlier. Looking at the mv as a whole, it seems like a culmination of their previously released tracks into one song, either by referencing the choreography, styling or lyrics. On a side note, the catchy hook of the song is quite addictive to listen to & surely it will be stuck in many listeners’ heads like the previous tracks.
