Under the Queen’s Umbrella Episode 7 Reactions: Fans Reserve a Soft Spot for the Entire Royal Family

When the historical k-drama began, viewers must’ve had some set notions about the characters portrayed therein, however, Under the Queen’s Umbrella Episode 7 (슈룹) completely shattered those molds, especially painting the King (Choi Won-young) in a new positive light. At the onset of the series, all the Grand Princes were merely reported as “troublemakers” and the King was presented as a rather passive personality overshadowed by Queen Dowager’s (Kim Hae-sook) grand and diabolical demeanor.

The latest episode of the series has the fans loving Hwa-ryeong’s entire family and for good reason. The King has finally spoken up against his mother, questioning her intentions, especially since they seem to be meddling with his family’s well-being. Kim Hye-soo’s Hwa-ryeong and Moon Sang-min’s Seong-nam already have their separate fanbases since the first day but now all members of the family have started to weigh out equally on the performance scale.

During the initial moments of the episode when Hwa-ryeong had isolated herself in her quarters, her sons (Yoo Seon-ho, Yoon Sang-hyun and Park Ha-jun) were keen on looking out for their mother despite her closed doors. The scene is particularly heartwarming owing to the innocence and pure-hearted affection and respect held by the boys for their mother. Moreover, the audience just can’t stop rooting for Seong-nam now that he has sworn his word to follow in the footsteps of his late brother, the last Crown Prince.

While Hwa-ryeong had given her word to protect the Grand Heir, the fans are one step ahead in doing the same as once again Twitter was flooded with messages for the young actor. His interaction with his uncles has evoked an emotionally tearing response from the fans.

Other than the ever-rising love for and respective character growth of Hwa-ryeong, the King, Seong-nam, the other Grand Princes, and the Crown Princess and her children, fans were left awestruck by a surprise cameo visit paid by the one and only Jung Ji-hoon, who’s commonly known as Rain in the K-pop world.
