Anthony Mackie does have an unhinged side, I’ll give him that. Pain & Gain, and Altered Carbon proved it big time. And Peacock Original’s upcoming post-apocalyptic show Twisted Metal will explore this very side of him aptly. Graphic and raw material garnished with humour, the trailer makes it clear that the series will revolve around a no-holds-barred ground for cars i.e. a demolition derby. I’m already intrigued.
Pardon my sadism but a post-apocalyptic future with cars as means of destruction is very cool. I am a Mad-Max fan, so this whole concept just gets me to my core. If you, too, dig it, you are in for an adrenaline-pumping “ride”.

Twisted Metal Cast
The series stars Anthony Mackie as John Doe, Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, Joe Seanoa aka Samoa Joe, as the maniac Sweet Tooth, Tahj Vaughans as Mike, Neve Campbell as Raven, and Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone. Different episodes have been directed by different directors, including Kitao Sakurai. They have been written by Michael Jonathan Smith, Grant Dekernion, and Alyssa Forleiter, among others. What is interesting is that these writers based the story on an original take written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, both of whom wrote Deadpool.

Twisted Metal Plot
The show is based on the very popular Play Station game franchise of the same name. As we mentioned earlier, the game deals with combat of vehicles aka demolition derby, a sport that basically involves drivers ramming their vehicles into those of their competitors. While this will serve as the base for the series, the story involves a talkative John Doe whose job is to transfer cargo from one city to another in the aftermath of a world-level destruction that has turned it into a warzone.

Each city has walls to defend itself from outsiders, but from the looks of it, John has a free-travel card because he transfers stuff. But when John is hired by a woman named Raven to bring her back a mysterious package, all hell breaks loose. He and his newly befriended car-thief Quiet have to fight off their foes, if not run away from them, especially from the clown-masked maniac Sweet Tooth (a character in the game as well) who rules Las Vegas. How befitting is that! A maniac ruling Las Vegas. No offence to anyone.
