Twinkling Watermelon Episode 15 Preview: The K-drama Twinking Watermelon or Sparkling Watermelon (반짝이는 워터멜론) is directed by Son Jong-hyun and written by Jin Soo-Wan. Ryeoun, Choi Hyun-wook, Seol In-ah and Shin Eun-soo will be appearing in the lead roles for the show. The show is expected to have a total of 16 episodes with a runtime of approximately 60 minutes each.

A 15.6 billion won production and supply agreement for the show was signed by production companies Pan Entertainment and Studio Dragon on September 5, 2023. The show takes over tvN’s Monday & Tuesday 8:50 time slot previously occupied by My Lovely Liar.

Twinkling Watermelon Plot

The story centres around a boy who is born and brought up by hearing-impaired parents. Moreover, he has a talent for music and is naturally gifted in the field. However, one day he visits a mysterious musical instruments store and travels back in time to 1995. There, Eun-Gyeol meets Lee Chan, Choi Se-Kyung and Yoon Chung-A. He forms an unlikely bond with them and joins the band formed by his father named Watermelon Sugar. Meanwhile, Lee Chan has a crush on Choi Se-Kyung, who is known as the Cello Goddess of Seowon Arts High School, and tries to win her heart.

The ensemble cast consists of Ryeoun as Eun-gyeol, the only hearing person in a family of deaf people. Choi Hyun-wook as Lee Chan who is a hot-blooded man who seems to have jumped out of a cheerful cartoon. Seol In-ah as Choi Se-kyung, the cello goddess of Seowon Arts High School. Lee So-yeon plays adult Choi Se-kyung. Shin Eun-soo as Yoon Cheong-ah, a cold and arrogant person, who is born deaf. She dreams of a sparkling life like Frida Kahlo.

In the next episode, Yi-chan stands up for Cheong-ah from her family. Their relationship starts to grow more stronger than ever. Eun-gyeol gets into trouble with some suspicious people. Moreover, Yi-chan might meets with an accident that can change his future forever.

Sparkling Watermelon episode 14 starts with Eun-gyeol and Eun-yu accidentally seeing each other with smartphones which were not yet invented in 1995. Yi-chan also arrives at the scene and asks about the device on both their hands. Panicked by the situation, Eun-gyeol jumps off the moving train with Eun-yu before reaching the destination.

The both of them reveal their true identities to each other and confess that they are from the future. Eun-gyeol finally finds out that the girl he is in love with is not Se-kyung but in fact her daughter, Eun-yu. Similarly, Eun-yu also finds out that En-gyeol is actually Yi-chan’s son and he was matchmaking him with Cheong-ah the entire time because they are his parents.

At the camp, the band started to brainstorm for a new song that they would require for the competition. After a lot of hard work, they finally came up with the lyrics and melody for the track. The next day they record the song and everyone spends an eventful day. However, Eun-yu finds out that the old man was previously the frontman of a band and she realises that he is related to her mother.

On the other hand, the group reaches home the next day. However, Cheong-ah’s stepmother sees her with Yi-chan and suddenly slaps her which leads to a heated argument between both of them. The stepmother locks Cheong-ah inside the basement just like she used to during her childhood days.

However, Eun-gyeol reaches home and notices that Cheong-ah is missing from her room and his suspicions rise after he sees that the fax machine is also broken. He finally finds out she is locked inside the basement and rescues her. He also confronts her stepmother and threatens to report her to the authorities for abuse and harassment. Right after that, he takes Cheong-ah to Yichan’s house.

Meanwhile, Eun-yu realises that the old man who was the frontman of a band had an affair with a celebrity which led to a sudden pregnancy. Due to the scandal, the band had to break up. The man is none other than Se-kyung’s biological father and so she visits his shop and urges him to reveal more about her grandmother.

Moreover, Eun-yu also finds out that Eun-gyeol is her friend’s brother from whom she learned sign language. Suddenly she realised that Yi-chan’s accident did not happen before the festival so he is still at risk of losing his hearing.
