This film is based on a true story about Jessica Watson, who became the youngest girl to solo sail around the world. A story about grit, determination and some fantastic action, it is directed by Sarah Spillane, who also serves as a screenwriter. Apart from the adventurous excursions of the protagonist, the film also gets into the impact of a good support system and a family that believes deeply in you. True Spirit Plot/Synopsis
Jess is on the ship, and she has made a decision. Based on a true story.”
It may be a daunting adventure, but Jessica has made up her mind to do it, speaking to journalists and family members beforehand and trying her best to continue sailing non-stop across the globe. However, there are challenges, including treacherous waters, lack of support and the fear of being capsized. Even if she didn’t manage to lose her food and water supplies, capsize her ship or lose her way while sailing, there are much worse things waiting to happen to her.

The trailer also shows that she has dyslexia and her parents are afraid for her. The sea is dangerous, and when she yells at it to give her a break, she knows that it won’t be possible. It is inevitable that the ocean will rise and fall with tides, and part of the journey is the struggles. Her mother is her biggest cheerleader telling her that true character is revealed when things go wrong, and if she can handle herself in this process, she will be able to reach her highest potential.
Jessica accepts that she isn’t okay throughout the journey, there are times when she is alone and times when she is completely doubtful about her excursion across the world. However, it is okay to accept that things are not going the way you want them to. You can be struggling and be tough at the same time. The film shows just how supportive everyone is around her.
