Tower of God Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

This episode picks up with Wangnan and Nia bored in their room, deciding to play cards to pass the time. Meanwhile, on the 20th floor, Love, a ranker and test admin, ignores his superior’s advice not to let personal grudges against Viole, a member of the anti-Jahad organization Fug, affect his actions. Determined, Love is set on stopping Viole.
Elsewhere, a shady old lady tries to lure Miseng, but Akraptor intervenes and saves her. This action reveals Akraptor’s kind heart, despite his intimidating appearance and previous underhanded actions. However, he still manages to make Miseng cry, but the mood lightens when Wangnan invites everyone to play cards.
As they enjoy a normal moment, Goseng remarks how wonderful it would be to forget about the tower and live peacefully. This positivity is abruptly interrupted when Love announces in the middle of the night that it’s time for the Regulars to take their final test.
The test is intricate, resembling a game called the Trustworthy Room. Seven players must secure six rooms, choosing a leader and a gatekeeper for each room. Viole, however, faces a different set of rules due to his previous refusal to follow them.
Tower of God Season 2 Episode 4 Review And Recap

Today’s episode had many ups and downs as we get to see some betrayals but also some redemptions. We see that Prince gets betrayed by his Subordinate Kim Lurker, who was supposed to keep him protected. Kim utilises the new members of his group and brainwashes Yeon to fight for him. Not only that, but Nya betrays Wangnan and sides with Kim, as well.
But there is a reason behind it. When Nya got crossed by his past teammates, an old lady was the only person who took care of him. But once she got into debt with the Lurker cash, Nya became a pawn of Kim so that he could protect the old lady. But even after his betrayal, he gets backstabbed again by Kim himself, and this leads to Kim badly beating him.
On top of that, Rapdevil also betrays Prince and goes to kill him so that he, along with Kim, can secure the rooms that they need to ascend.

Everything comes crashing down, and Wangnan faces the grim reality of not being able to climb the tower and Nya being dead. This is when he comes up with a plan. If there is a chance of him failing anyway, he would rather join hands with the devil than let the evil people climb the tower and win. This is why he goes to where Love is battling with Viole and begs Viole to help him out. Viole surprisingly agrees.
Today’s episode was pretty dark as it finally addresses the very grim reality of the tower. Wangnan confronts Love and asks him what is the true meaning behind the climb to the top of the tower. Does it really exist to make everyone’s wish come true, or it is just there to squash everyone’s hopes and aspirations?

Verdict
I loved today’s episode as it showed more complexities within the people who want to climb the tower. Wangnan finally comes out as a very good protagonist when he claims that he will be the king of the tower and change how unjustly everyone gets treated. It showcases that he has the heart to be a great person, but the circumstances that surround him make him look lousy at times.
