The White Lotus Season 2 Episode 4 Review/Recap: In the Sandbox

The White Lotus Season 2 Episode 4 is called ‘In the Sandbox’. It is written and directed by Mike White. The show stars F Murray Abraham as Bert Di Grasso, Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid (from season 1), Jon Gries as Greg Hunt and Tanya’s husband, Adam DiMarco as Albie Di Grasso, Theo James as Cameron Babcock, Meghann Fahy as Daphne Babcock, Sabrina Impacciatore as Valentina, Michael Imperioli as Dominic Di Grasso, Aubrey Plaza as Harper Spiller, Will Sharpe as Ethan Spiller, Haley Lu Richardson as Portia, Beatrice Granno as Mia, Simona Tabasco as Lucia and others.

The episode is an hour long. The synopsis reads, “Tanya and Portia spend a day with charming ex-pats Quentin and Jack. Harper is blindsided by shocking evidence from Ethan’s night out.”

It’s a new day, and Cameron wakes up in the same bed with Mia and Lucia. Harper calls Ethan and asks what they did do at the hotel. She tells her husband how Daphne didn’t tell her about the stay. Harper sounds suspicious of Ethan and tells him she’ll meet him later at the hotel. Cameron pays some money to Lucia and tells her he will give the remaining at the hotel desk, and she can collect it from there.

Hotel manager Valentina sees her colleague Isabella talking to another staff member Rocco. She asks Isabella if she’s uncomfortable. Dominic asks the manager if they can help him with jewellery as a gift to his wife. It’s breakfast time at The White Lotus Hotel, and Portia now shares the table with her boss, Tanya. She apologises to Albie and tells him they should hang out later.

When Portia asks Tanya if she can hang out with Albie later, she changes the topic to Greg again. After breakfast, 2 new male guests invite Tanya to the Beachhouse club later. Lucia tells Mia that she feels bad dragging her friend into her work. She says how all wh*res are punished in the end. But Mia makes her understand that there’s nothing wrong. When Mia sees Albie and his grandfather Greg, she tells Lucia she still has the keys to Greg’s room. They decide to go to his room and take a shower.

Daphne tells Harper not to tell anything to anyone about the conversation they had. Tanya and Portia go to the beach house to meet the new male guests. Even Portia meets a young man at the beach house. Albie waits at the beach for Portia. Tanya has a good conversation with one of the men at the beach house club. Tanya tells him about Greg and how he left her in Sicily.

Daphne and Harper return to the hotel. She tells Ethan everything Daphne told her last night. When Ethan goes to the washroom, Harper finds an opened condom packet on the sofa. Mia and Lucia sit next to Albie, who’s been waiting for Portia. He finally goes to the beach house to meet Portia, who’s busy talking to the new guy.

Albie leaves with his father and grandfather to have lunch. Dominic shows the gift he got for his wife. But Albie is not impressed. Harper, Ethan, Cameron and Daphne sit for lunch together. Harper is still in a state of shock. Lucia tells Mia that she wants enough money for the store. Mia says she wants to be a singer. Mia tells Lucia about the pianist and how she should have sex with him, so she will help her become a singer.

After Mia leaves, Lucia again sits with Albie, who is still waiting for Portia. The duo get talking about each other and decides to take a swim. Mia has sex with the pianist in the church, but he stops. The pianist tells her they should do it tomorrow, but she walks out. She talks some pills from Lucia’s bag, thinking it’s viagra and gives them to the pianist. He starts feeling strange after taking the pill.

Aubrey asks Ethan about what happened the last night. Ethan says they went Jet skiing and drank a lot. Daphne and Cameron knock on their door and head out to dinner. Albie tells Greg and Dominic that he met a girl at the beach and wants dinner with her. Greg talks to Dominic about Mia and Lucia being in his room earlier. He thinks his son gave him a surprise. The pianist faints during his performance.

Mia tells Lucia everything that happened and about the pills. Lucia tells Mia that the pills weren’t viagra. Albie interrupts their conversation, and they have a drink. Dominic and Greg are surprised to see Albie with Lucia and Mia. Tanya and Portia have dinner with the new male guests at The White Lotus hotel.

Portia and the new guy also go to the bar counter to have drinks. Both she and Albie become awkward seeing each other. Seeing them, Lucia starts kissing Albie too. Portia takes the guy to her room. Lucia and Albie also indulge in some oral sex in his room. Harper asks Ethan again about the last night. Ethan tells her about the investment offer put forward by Cameron.

The White Lotus Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Final Thoughts

The relationships have now gone a bit sour at the hotel. The pianist might be dead, and that will land Mia and Lucia in trouble. Harper is suspicious of her husband, but it is Cameron who cheated on Daphne. Tanya is having a good time with the new men. Is it going to be jealousy that will lead to deaths in the hotel? We can’t wait to see it.
