The Whale Trailer: Brendan Fraser Talks About the Innate Human Nature

The Whale trailer has finally been released by A24 studio after much anticipation. Brandon Frazer and Sadie Sink are seen as the lead roles in the trailer. The psychological drama film is directed by Daron Aronofsky, from the screenplay written by Samuel D. Hunter. The movie is based on Hunter’s play of the same name.

With a runtime of 117 minutes, the movie has an ensemble cast starring Brandon Fraser as Charlie, Sadie Sink as Ellie, Hong Chau as Liz, Samantha Morton as Mary, Ty Simpkins as Thomas, and Sathya Sridharan as Dan.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “An obese and reclusive English teacher tries to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.”

The movie is centred around the broken relationship between a father and daughter. Brendan Fraser as Charlie, a middle-aged man is on a mission to restore his relationship with his 17-year-old daughter Sadie Sink, as Ellie. After he separated from her early into her life, he is seen trying his best.

The two grew apart when Charlie left his family for a man, who later died. To suppress his emotions and pain, the man started binge eating. An attempt to try in eating his guilt away resulted in him weighing 600 lb. (272 kg), hence the current appearance. He appears to be under healthcare supervision as well.

The Whale premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and received enormous amounts of positive reception. The cast and crew received a six-minute standing ovation. Brandon Fraser’s performance was highly appreciated.

The film takes up on real-life issues like homosexuality, body image, abandonment and more. It contains an underlying social commentary which makes it even more exciting.

The Whale is theatrically releasing on December 9 in the United States.
