The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 11 Recap

The Uncanny Counter season 2 episode 11 begins with Ju-seok killing Pil-gwang and taking away his spirit, only to unintentionally let Pil-gwang enter his body and take over it. Soon, Pil-gwang wreaks havoc with Ju-seok’s face and leaves the scene while the Counters rush to the scene.

There, Jeong-beok tells them that Ju-seok and Pil-gwang’s smells have disappeared, instead, something worse has filled the air. So Mun and Ha-na rush ahead to find the police take Pil-gwang’s body away. Later, Wi Gen tells the Counters that Ju-seok is no longer alive as Pil-gwang has taken over his body and consumed his soul.

This leaves the Counters stunned, however, Wi Gen then tells them that Pil-gwang has now become a completely evil spirit and needs to be exterminated. Pil-gwang is now so powerful that he can control the territory and absorb its powers.

He can no longer be summoned and with the extermination, all the souls he had consumed will also disappear. This shocked the Counters further, and while the others have no choice but to accept this decision, So Mun is not convinced.

He tells the Counters that there is still a chance to summon the evil spirits and not exterminate Ju-seok, however, the Counters are unconvinced. Elsewhere, Pil-gwang changes Ju-seok’s look a notch and feels the power of the territory seeping into him, thus, becoming ready to find So Mun for the final dual.

Meanwhile, believing that Ju-seok is still alive, So Mun arrives at a distant place with Ha-na to check on this and enters Ju-seok’s consciousness through the territory. He meets Pil-gwang’s spirit there and the two begin to fight, however, the latter suppresses So Mun and it is Ju-seok who saves him.

This makes him believe in his suspicion and So Mun rushes to Wi Gen with this information. However, she refuses to take back the extermination order on a thin possibility of Ju-seok being able to help them defeat Pil-gwang. Elsewhere, Mo-tak goes in search of Ju-seok with his subordinate Han-ul after getting many reports of Ju-seok being spotted.

They soon reach Pil-gwang’s hideout and face the man they had been searching for. Unfortunately, Pil-gwang is not easy to mess with and he suppresses the two and tries to peek into Mo-tak’s mind to find out where the other Counters are hidden.

However, Mo-tak is not ready to do this and is soon distracted by Han-ul who is then killed in front of him. Gi-ran’s voice then tells Mo-tak to leave the place as soon as possible and he is left with no choice but to do so in order to keep their hideout a secret. Mo-tak then rushes back and packs up some weapons to once again face Pil-gwang.

So Mun tries to stop him but this time Mo-tak’s anger has crossed all bounds and he hits So Mun after which he tells them about Han-ul’s death. He tells So Mun to stop being stuck to saving Ju-seok because he is long gone and now the one thing he needs to do is exterminate the evil spirit and save the many innocent lives that are at risk.

Everyone is shocked by this while Mo-tak dashes out from there to catch Pil-gwang. Ha-na rushes out with him to accompany him while So Mun is ashamed for trying to save Ju-seok while ignoring everything else. Mo-tak and Ha-na arrive at the place where Han-ul was killed only to find the place empty with neither Pil-gwang nor Han-ul.

The next day, So Mun visits Ju-seok’s mother who asks if her son is dead which is why Jang-mul has ordered all sources of information to be removed. So Mun tells her that he is still alive which gives her a sense of relief until she tells him that she hopes Ju-seok can meet Min-ji again and that maybe death is better for him.

Ha-na checks his memories and finds out that Ju-seok gained control over his body for a brief period after Pil-gwang killed Han-ul and saved Han-ul on time. She tells this to Mo-tak who is excited and relieved at the same time. Back at the Counter’s base, Mae-ok, Jang-mul and Jeong-beok are preparing for the others’ return when Jeong-beok once again smells the putrid smell which makes him vomit.

They soon contact the others and hide right before Pil-gwang arrives. We then see a flashback wherein Ju-seok saves Han-ul after which Pil-gwang gains control over his body while Ju-seok shouts at Han-ul to escape. During their internal struggle, Pil-gwang looks into Ju-seok’s memory and gets the location of the Counters’ hideout.

He tells him to press the button while he distracts Pil-gwang. However, they end up attracting Pil-gwang a little earlier and Mae-ok rushes out to distract him, followed by Jang-mul.

Jeong-beok then rushes out to do as said, but he is too late and Pil-gwang finds him first. The three are then suppressed by Pil-gwang together, and this is when So Mun arrives to save them. Unfortunately, keeping Pil-gwang controlled until the system blows everything up is not easy and right when he taught his end is here, the others force their way inside and save So Mun.

  1. 1.Please explain how Ma Ju Seok has 2 souls inside of him (his own and his evil spirit) vs Hwang Pil Gwang’s single soul (the same soul that controls Pil Gwang’s body and enter Ju Seok’s body in the last episode).

    2. Does this mean that Ju Seok’s real soul is so strong that he is vot merged with his evil spirit?

    3. That leaves us to wonder, has Pil Gwang’s soul defetead and merged with/ swallowed/ killed his evil spirit’s souls?

    4. And what about Ju Seok’s evil spirit? Has that one killed/ what? What about all the human souls that trapped inside Ju Seok’s evil spirit?

    • Hey, so the evil spirit inside Ma Ju-seok is killed by Hwang Pil-gwang when the latter enters Ju-seok’s body. It is Ju-seok’s strong will power that is able to give him the strength to survive even after being taken over by these two other souls. As you can see in earlier episodes, it was Ju-seok’s desire for revenge that got the evil spirit to him, however, it was strong enough to make him go irrational which is why the evil spirit never gained control. There are no human souls trapped inside Ju-seok because he only killed one person.

  2. Firstly, this show don’t make sense. The protagonist is so naive and selfish. His mindset is so flawed that it makes it an agony to watch.

The script is good but the seo Mun’s character just ruined it for me. Storyline revolves around how the counters are not improving their skills but rather lucked out every situation whereas the evil spirits are actually getting stronger and scheming their way around.

Terrible waste of time to watch and Seo Mun’s character and personality just makes it cringeworthy. jaek Bong’s character and acting exacerbates the problem of the series.
