Ju-seok is attacked by Pil-gwang for his powers, but he suppresses the latter when So Mun’s awakening activates the territory. Ju-seok is able to absorb the power of the territory and the evil spirit inside him is also shocked by how easily it is able to control Ju-seok in the presence of the territory.
Elsewhere, So Mun finds out about Ju-seok visiting his grandmother and sees her memory of her time with Ju-seok where he is only a hurt man. Meanwhile, Mo-tak makes Lee Chung-jae bait to get to Ju-seok but this ends up with Ju-seok taking Lee Chung-jae to Min-ji’s memorial so that the two can die together.
Right then, his mother arrives and stops him from doing so which gives Lee Chung-jae a chance to escape. Right then, the evil spirit inside him gains control of his body and attacks his mother which leaves him shocked. So Mun arrives and notices that something is wrong, following which he lets Ju-seok escape.
This angers Mo-tak, however, So Mun tells everyone that he believes that Ju-seok can be persuaded. Later, Lee Chung-jae hands over the evidence again Pil-gwang and the Counters decide to not reveal this to Ju-seok until they persuade him. So Mun finally succeeds in doing so, however, right then Ju-seok comes across a broadcasting screen where Pil-gwang confesses his crimes as well as killing Min-ji.
This enrages Ju-seok as he rushes to get his hands on Pil-gwang. He sees Pil-gwang’s memories and finds out that he indeed killed Min-ji after which he snaps his neck and kills him. Ju-seok then bends to take in Pil-gwang’s spirit when the latter enters the space of the evil spirit and kills it, thus finally taking over Ju-seok’s body and the spirit’s powers.
