The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 1 Recap and Review: The Counters Are Back With a Distress

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 (경이로운 소문 2: 카운터 펀치) brings the return of the supernatural mystery comedy-drama of the same name directed by Yoo Seon-dong. The show stars  Cho Kyeong-kyu, Yoo Joon-sang, Kim Se-jeong, Yeom Hye-ran, Ahn Suk-hwan, and Yoo In-soo in the lead roles alongside other cast members.

The new season continues the story of the group of Counters who catch evil spirits from the afterlife who have come in search of immortality. With new members joining the gang and bigger evils coming their way, the Counters are ready for a counterattack and stop anyone who comes their way.

The show will have 12 episodes and be broadcasted on tvN on the Saturday-Sunday slot at 9:20 PM KST time slot previously occupied by See You in My 19th LifeThe Uncanny Counter season 2 episode 1 has a run time of 73 minutes.

The synopsis of the show reads:

Armed with new powers and fresh recruits, the Counters continue their battle against evil demons who feed on humans.

The Uncanny Counter season 2 episode 1 begins with the Counters returning to tackle a notorious evil spirit who has dressed up as a school bus driver and is spreading chaos all over the city in the name of having fun. As the counters try to stop him one after another, So Mun finally arrives at the end to save the day.

They soon take care of the evil spirit and with this, the Counters officially return. Later, Ga Mo-tak’s colleagues once again are left stunned as he is able to capture another criminal on his trip to the toilet. Meanwhile, the Counters once again complained about the lack of help that has put on an extra burden on the members.

While those at the Spirits Immigration Office are able to understand this predicament, Jong-suk wants to make sure that they hire the perfect member and not make any mistakes with this. The Counters cannot complain anymore and return to once again practising their psychokinesis skills.

While everyone sees some improvement, Mo-tak lacks behind but does not give up. Later, the group proceed to a senior’s centre where they have a kimchi-making session along with fireman Ma Joo-seok’s family. The group then exchange stories of the past and praise Joo-seok’s deeds and his patience with everyone around.

Later, Joo-seok shares the news of his wife’s pregnancy with So Mun who announces it to everyone present and they all congratulate the couple. Later, So Mun and Ha-na go out to deliver the kimchi to some elderlies who could not come when they come across a child in trouble.

Seeing the domestic violence happening in front of him, So Mun and Ha-na intercept and save the mother and son from the abuser. They take the two to Chu Mae-ok who tells them to come to them whenever they want. The next day, Joo-seok takes his wife to the doctor for a check-up and the couple is happy until Min-ji sees the news of the fraudulent who took away their savings of more than ten years.

Joo-seok soon calms his wife down while the scene shifts to a secluded place in China where two evil spirits look at the same news and rejoice. Meanwhile, a group of Counters enter their lair to get rid of them but soon realise that these spirits are not simple. A third spirit too joins the fun and they soon get rid of the four Counters while also absorbing their powers.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 1 Ending

The news soon reaches Seoul where everyone is stunned by this news and the imminent danger that won’t be easy to handle. They once again ask them to add others to their team before leaving to prepare themselves for the spirits that are soon to come.

Elsewhere, the mother-son duo saved by So Mun and Ha-na get into trouble again when debtors arrive to get their money back by selling their organs. Ha-na envisions this and the team soon rushes to save the duo before things go downhill.

The Counters arrive right on time and save the two while taking care of the scene, thus, saving the day once again.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 1 Review

The Counters are back after two whole years and this is exactly what we have all been waiting for. And with the new faces who have come this season, our excitement is being fulfilled well by the show.

Episode 1 of the new season has brought back some good memories and it is definitely not just So Mun who is enjoying their adventures. Altogether, a good start to this new season is what we have got and we are definitely ready for what more is to come.

  1. I loved it. It was so good to see our beloved counter free from the traumas of their pasts and able to be light hearted and have fun. Even Hana was smiling and playing around. I can’t wait to see what happens.
