Gradually building up the rock-sounding suspense, Stray Kids has come out with yet another teaser for their upcoming music video titled The Sound. While the audio track was already released on various music platforms, the physical album sales commence this week, marking the K-pop boy group’s first full Japanese album drop.
Formed through a survival music reality show by JYP Entertainment in 2017, the group has eight members – Bang Chan (the leader), Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. – who have put out several other Japanese tracks prior to this premiere. EPs like Circus, All In, and singles like TOP, Scars, in addition to the refurbished Japanese editions of their Korean tracks, have showcased their musical expertise in the arena through Epic Records Japan.

On January 27, 2023, the South Korean music act unveiled the first music video teaser of their album’s leading title, which put on striking blue visuals as the members of the group were challenged by a racing blue lightning, a common symbol featured on their previous albums as well. Conversely, the new MV teaser released today, i.e. on February 6, 2023, makes way for a more grounded colour tone by presenting visuals of a similar room, but in a more realistic light.
The members can be seen walking across the room’s length, while Felix sits on the floor and gazes straight ahead into the camera lens. The resonating sound of the song teased in the video brings about cracks on the walls. As the team heads out into the open field, the setting sun and dark clouds above point towards the suggestive image of a storm brewing in the distance, an image which can be associated with the soundscape of the reverberating industrial track itself.

The Sound credits its birth to the composition helmed by Bang Chan, Changbin and Han (3RACHA), who have also contributed to the lyrics and the arrangement of track. D&H (PURPLE NIGHT) is another lyricist, while Zack Djurich and Kyle Reynolds joined the group of artists as two more composers. The forthcoming album features ten songs – THE SOUND, Battle Ground, Lost Me, DLMLU, Novel, CASE 143 (Japanese version), CHILL (Japanese version), Scars, ソリクン (Japanese version), and There, also accompanied by the titular tune’s instrumentals as the eleventh addition on the tracklist.
