As these two personas are shown, we soon see the thin line between the two as Mats’ vulnerabilities and fear soon give us a glimpse of the young man that he was. The documentary very beautifully portrays the truly remarkable life of Mats. However, it also shows us the Mats who was scared, angry, sad, and lonely in ways not everyone could understand.

The animation put together of his digital life, accompanied by the voice actors, truly brought together this whole documentary. While unique in many ways, it helped us understand Mats better and how a game can change people’s lives.
