The Murderer Ending Explained: Directed by Wisit Sasanatieng, the murder-mystery-comedy film (เมอร์เด้อเหรอ ฆาตกรรมอิหยังวะ) stars Phetthai Vongkhamlao, Eisaya Hosuwan, James Laver, Jonathan Samson, Sawanee Utoomma, Chananticha Chaipa and others. It has a runtime of 120 minutes.

When a terrible tragedy takes place in an isolated property during the night of a terrible storm, an English man, who is the family’s son-in-law, is accused of their murder. As the police try to make him confess in hilarious ways, his wife is the only one defending him from being wrongly accused. However, is he really innocent?

The Murderer Ending Explained

It is evident from the first moment of The Murderer that Sai’s family doesn’t like Earl. They insult him and disapprove of him, and Sai’s mother and aunt personally tell her to leave him constantly she is alone with them. However, the night of the big storm turns out to be stormy for the family itself.

After giving Sai’s niece June a cell phone as a gift, they hear her brother and ex-husband making a ruckus outside the house. With no respite. Earl decides to go out and investigate and, in the process, notices that one of the planks on the window has come undone. While trying to fix it, he smashes the window, and a piece of glass pierces his head. Disoriented, he stumbles inside the house, bleeding profusely. In the meantime, Sai comes out after hearing her parents screaming about her brother’s murder at her husband’s hand.

Unable to find a body, Sai refuses to believe her family but soon finds her aunt stumbling out of the second floor of the house and twisting her neck in the process. They rush her to the hospital but are unable to reach it, thanks to the road being closed. In the meantime, the aunt dies. When they come back home, they find her brother and ex still alive.

Soon enough, however, after the latter two go out for more alcohol, they come across Earl passed out in the field. The ex tries to murder him while the brother makes his way to find another weapon and unfortunately gets squished under their truck’s wheel after it rolls on to him. When Earl comes to, he finds the ex dead and then comes across the brother, who tries to shoot him. Unfortunately, he ends up shooting and killing himself.

Next, Sai’s ex-sister-in-law and husband reach the house. The sister-in-law’s husband is accidentally killed by her father, who mistakes him for Earl. When her sister-in-law connects the dots, her father murders her in order to keep his crime hidden. When the police officer arrives with Earl and Sai in tow, the parents try to pin the blame on Earl. However, the officer figures it out and is shot by Sai’s mother in order to protect her husband. Unfortunately, she is shot in the process as well.

The Murderer ending explained

Finally, Sai is knocked out unconscious, and her father has a heart attack after seeing something horrible. Although Inspector Nawat refuses to believe Earl’s innocence at first, he does so after finding June’s phone, which had video evidence of the entire night’s ordeal.

However, the real twist comes out when it is revealed that June had mixed magic mushrooms that evening in the soup that they had for dinner, something that only June, Earl and Sai didn’t have. Thus, everyone else was tripping out of their minds throughout the night and thus took some drastic steps.

Why did June mix the magic mushrooms?

June did so because she had overheard her grandmother speaking ill of her and plotting to give her away to her mother. June wished to live with Sai and Earl, the only two people who truly loved her. Thus, he orchestrated the entire thing in order to get rid of them and live with her aunt happily for the rest of her life.

Did Inspector Nawat make any arrests?

No, since the videos in June’s phone proved that the deaths were all accidental and no one murdered anyone. Although Nawat wanted to arrest Earl at first, he soon realises that he is innocent and lets him and Sai go. Nawat does suspect there is something more in June’s testimony, but he doesn’t have proof. Plus, the toxicology report showed that all of them had ingested magic mushrooms, so it proved that they were not in their right state of mind and probably suffered from shared hallucinations.
