-The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 9 Recap Contains Spoilers-

The episode picks up from where the previous ended; Allie and Charlie rush towards Adolfo to ask about Dina’s whereabouts. Adolfo tells them that she tried to escape with his car and caught her in time. He also adds that he helps Dina to escape and gives her all the money he possesses because he loves her. Charlie sneakily steals Adolfo’s phone during the conversation.

Meanwhile, Margot is with Richard trying to join his plan to collect shreds of evidence which will guarantee her immunity. She remains in contact with the NSA and demands a written record that ensures her and the children’s safety. On the other hand, Allie is trying to take Guillermo down by threatening to reveal his secret operation of smuggling, stealing and trafficking. In exchange for keeping his secret, Allie demands a plot of land for his family to reside.

Richard recruits Margot as a scout for his plan. He informs her that the plan to blow up the facility will commence on that very day, and both take a long ride to the location. Margot scouts the place with her binoculars and sees multiple officers surrounding the place in stealth mode, but she lies to Richard about it. It turns out that Richard betrayed her when no explosives were found inside the truck when the police intercepted it. Distraught, Margot loses all hope as her last plan for freedom shatters.

Allie and Charlie are seen using Adolfo’s phone and talking to Dina, pretending to be him. After much convincing, Dina agrees to come back home. During the last few minutes of the episode, Richard is also seen at the same hotel that Dina is currently staying in. It is finally revealed that the hotel is the actual location where his plan will commence, and the episode ends with a cliffhanger.

The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 9 Review

The latest episode was another disappointment. The plot was predictable and not enjoyable in the slightest. The story seems to be going on a loop with zero progression so far. There is also little to no character development present throughout the entire episode. The build-up is good, but the big reveals fall flat.

The actors have done a decent job, but with a bad script, they do not have much to work with. The cinematography and the background music are the only saving grace of the series.
