The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 3: Talk About The Weather
The series’ third episode starts with the Fox family arriving at a secluded and far-away island. They meet up with the woman who had invited them to stay there. At first glance, the island looks exotic, and the people are friendly.
As the episode continues, it is shown that the people residing in the area have returned to the primal form of living. Everyone is supposed to hunt or find their meals, cook and clean for themselves, and have no hot shower. It looked like a new society where people lived as a community away from the outside world.
The Fox family is also seen working and playing with the people there. They had assimilated well with the new rules and way of living without many complaints. But something was brewing within the family, and Allie was unaware of it.

The secret was finally out that Margot and Dina were planning to flee the island. Both mother-daughter wanted to escape the place for the entire family’s well-being. They were seen gathering oil for the boat, but soon they found out that a resident would sell the boat to someone else because the concept of owning property did not exist within the community.
Margot and Dina plan to evacuate and escape the area that very night itself. They plan to drug Allie and escape the place with Charlie. But Allie somehow finds out about their plan, so he drowns the boat in the lake, and that way boat cannot be sold or used to flee.
The Mosquito Coast Season 2 Episode 3 Review
The new episode did pick up its pace from the last one. The plot is still quite predictable, yet the execution was done better. The story’s development takes place gradually, and the suspense will keep the viewer engaged. Episode 3 noticeably has a better plot that does not follow the usual order: the family always follows Allie. The defiance Allie faced from his wife and daughter was the special element of this episode.

There were some obvious plot holes, e.g., Dina suddenly getting blonde hair in the new episode on a hidden island. Certain inventions lack logical explanations behind them, and so on.
The performances by Melissa George and Logan Polish saved the episode. They were committed to their characters throughout and did what the plot demanded. Justin Theroux was not seen much in the new episode but delivered a stellar performance whenever he was on-screen. The rest of the cast also did an adequate job.
