The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 8 Recap

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 9 Review A Special Christmas

This episode centres on the cat mentor and Mimori. The cat has finally settled into living with Mimori without causing too much trouble. Their relationship is slowly improving, and they are becoming healthier than they were before. Although the cat still takes advantage of her, he is now more protective and supportive.

That being said, he remains a troublesome cat, frequently involving Mimori in questionable jobs. This time, he suggests she work at a Shabu Shabu restaurant where wearing underwear is apparently forbidden. When Mimori questions the connection between Shabu Shabu and undergarments, the cat spins an absurd tale, claiming that if she wears underwear while others do not, she will be seen as the odd one out.

Mimori, ever innocent and unbothered by the cat’s strange ideas, doesn’t let it faze her. Instead, the two of them proceed with their usual routine, heading to the market to gather food.

Meanwhile, at Mira’s place, he is preoccupied with selecting the perfect Christmas gift for Mimori. Torn between various options, he’s unsure of what to choose. His dilemma is interrupted by two of his subordinates, who come to pester him. Adding to the chaos, the stoic Bella—who also happens to be a notorious daydreamer—arrives. Bella has a bad habit of imagining her colleagues in inappropriate scenarios, and when she sees Mira contemplating a gift, she mistakenly believes it’s meant for her, leading to her own vivid fantasies.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 9 Review

It is finally the day of Christmas that our protagonists have been looking forward to for a very long time. But before they can spend time together, Mimori must complete her work as she is working on Christmas Day again because of her very poor financial status. That is when Mira drops by and even brings flowers with him. On top of that, when Mimori says that she cannot leave her shift yet because of the unsold cakes, Mira quickly pulls out his black card and buys them all.

But do not worry, as Mira has enough people back at his headquarters to chow down on all the cakes. After this, our protagonists go on a short date through the shopping centre. Here, Mimori and Mira walk around, and Mimori plays a game and winning it would have given her 10 kg worth of rice. Sadly, she does not get it, and Mira even promises to deliver the rice himself. However, after all these things finally settle down for our leads, they return to Mimori’s house for a Christmas feast.

Mimori decides to settle on a simple dinner that creates many waves in Mira’s heart. However, the main highlight is definitely the point when Mimori asks Mira to call her by her name, Byakuya. This section is hilarious as these two love birds just keep repeating each other’s names, only to be interrupted by the cat who got pissed with so much pda.

The rest of the episode keeps the festive mood alive, and we are shown a merry time between all the characters.

Verdict

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 9 Review A Special Christmas

Today’s episode was especially sweet because of the way Mira was reacting to everything Mimori did. They are becoming bolder in their displays, and none of them realise that.
