The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power: When and Where Will the First Episode Air?

LoTR fans rejoice because The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power is all set to arrive on our screens soon! The Fantasy drama is based on The Lord of the Rings and its appendices by J. R. R. Tolkien and developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay. It is produced by Amazon Studios along with the Tolkien Estate, the Tolkien Trust, HarperCollins and New Line Cinema.

Being dubbed as the most expensive tv series ever made, The Rings of Power is will feature the story of the Second Age. The musical theme score is by Howard Shore, who has worked on the films that came before the series and Bear McCreary serves as the overall composer for the series.

The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power features an ensemble cast that includes Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Míriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Owain Arthur as Durin IV, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Nazanin Boniadi as Bronwyn, Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir, Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Trystan Gravelle as Pharazôn, Lenny Henry as Sadoc Burrows, Ema Horvath as Eärien, Markella Kavenagh as Elanor Brandyfoot, Tyroe Muhafidin as Theo, Peter Mullan as Durin III, Sophia Nomvete as Disa, Lloyd Owen as Elendil, Megan Richards as Poppy Proudfellow, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand, Leon Wadham as Kemen and Benjamin Walker as Gil-galad.

The plot of the upcoming series according to the trailer reads: “The heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.”

“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

When Will The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power Episode 1 Air?

The first, as well as the second episode for The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power, will air on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2022. Both episodes are directed by the Spanish film director J. A. Bayona. The first episode is titled ‘Shadow of the Past’.
