The Killing Vote Plot
The crime drama series follows a mysterious man who doles out punishment to the most heinous criminals in the country who fall through the cracks of the justice system. His M.O. includes sending a text message when a criminal doesn’t face justice and citizens over the age of 18 can vote on whether or not they should die. If the results in favour of punishment receive 50% or more votes, then this mysterious figure, who operates through the internet, shows the said criminal a taste of the consequences of their actions. With such a dangerous precedent being set, Kim Moo-chan, Kwon Seok-joo and Joo Hyeon get embroiled in a wild chase to figure out who the punisher is.
The Killing Vote Episode 3 Recap
Picking up from last week, everyone is left shocked after the explosion of the car with Moo-chan and Eun-kyung inside. Meanwhile, a tense Min collects evidence that her teacher might be doing something behind the Gaetal incidents. As the public support for Gaetal increases, the police start to lose the public’s favour while Hyun is left comatose after the traumatic incidents of last night and wonders out loud why the general public should support someone like him.

Moo-chan’s condition, however, ends up causing a stir in the community, with everyone denouncing Gaetal for what he did. Elsewhere, Hyun decides to sneak into the hospital to meet Moo-chan, who turns out to be fine but just a little hurt. Plus, it also turns out that he is working with Do-hee in order to sway public opinion towards the police. As it also turns out, Hyun had saved Moo-chan from dying a fiery death. Either way, she sneaks in to meet him while Moo-chan is chatting with Jin-soo and is left shocked when she blocks the door with a scary look on her face.
She starts to accuse him of sabotaging the Korean police’s name if word gets out that he is completely fine, and an equally annoyed Moo-chan shoots back, saying that it was necessary to get public opinion towards them and that the only way to stop humiliating themselves at this point is to catch Gaetal. Elsewhere, Lee Min-soo is in the middle of really enjoying himself while trying to distribute videos of the incident while Ji-young promises her son that he will make Gaetal join him because he has what it takes to rouse the public’s interest.

Back at the school, Kim Ji-hoon is very sceptical of Min-soo’s motives as Min takes him back to her place to show him the video that Gaetal had planted. He is confused at first, wondering how she has access to such crucial information, but soon starts to help her find out more about the video. They are able to figure out the background noise, but before they can dig deeper, Hyun gets home and gives them an earful for going through such sensitive information in such a flippant way.
However, her anger is soon dissipated when Ji-hoon’s little discovery helps Hyun to find out more from the background noises and lights, and she realises that this is connected to Seok-joo’s incident and was filmed inside his house. She takes the two kids with her but instructs them to stay out before heading inside alone and letting Moo-chan know about her plan as well. When he finally gets his cell phone and receives the message, he hurriedly rushes out of the hospital after creating a diversion.

Inside Seok-joo’s house, Hyun finds a wall with a message saying, “The 13th one was wrong”, and further finds newspaper cuttings of the Kwon Seok-joo case. Unfortunately, though, she is knocked over the head by a mysterious person. Outside, Moo-chan arrives at the house as well, much to the high schoolers’ shock, and immediately runs inside to find Hyun. After carefully walking around the house and hearing noises, he finds Hyun unconscious on the floor. He further sees someone running out and gives chase, eventually engaging in a fistfight.
The perpetrator runs away, much to Min’s disappointment, but at least everyone is okay. Later on, Gaetal goes through the viewers’ message board and feels annoyed that people are seemingly turning against him. The next day, the police and forensic team make a visit to Seok-joo’s house as they try to figure out what happened there. Meanwhile, Min-soo looks disappointed with the police presence at the house.

In the meantime, Moo-chan and Hyun make a visit to Seok-joo after she realises that Moo-chan knew where the video was taken and was there beforehand. At the prison, the two policemen start to question Seok-joo, who tells them the significance of the phrase that was written on the wall. When Hyun asks him whether he can shed light on who could be behind such heinous crimes, he surprisingly takes Moo-chan’s name as he’s someone who knows a lot about the case, is interested and also has what it takes to go through with such a plan.
The Killing Vote Episode 3 Ending
Meanwhile, at Gi-chul’s funeral, Gaetal murders Elena as well for being an accessory while, at the prison, Hyun questions Moo-chan’s closeness with Seok-joo, but both are left stumped when a video surfaces of Moo-chan getting away from the wreckage and things turn worse when the prison door open to them facing the media. His (unscathed) face is plastered on every news channel live. As Gaetal asks what Moo-chan’s idea of justice is, he faces the media and reminds him that he is no hero and that he will catch him no matter what.
The Killing Vote Episode 3 Review

The Killing Vote continues to hold strong in its third episode, although, if I am not mistaken, it seems like they have all but spelt out the name of the killer. If so, I am very confused regarding the choice since I found it very enjoyable to be kept foggy regarding such details. Of course, it might just be a ploy to confuse us, but still, it would’ve been probably better to be kept in the dark.
Either way, this episode kept me on the edge, and the fact that Gaetal would use Seok-joo’s house to do his illegal activities is great. The humour of the episode is kept strong at a minimum; thus, even though some scenes are quite funny, the humour never really goes overboard and keeps things very serious. Considering the subject matter and the moral dilemmas, that is a good thing.
Other than that, Min and Hyun being cute sisters is a visual treat, and Hyun’s relationship with Moo-chan is cute as well. Their chemistry is really good, and I predict an oncoming romance here. Either way, this has been an entertaining episode, and I can’t wait to know more next week about Gaetal’s identity, although, unfortunately, I feel like I already know who it is and why he is doing all this.
The Killing Vote will air every week on SBS in Korea as well as on Amazon Prime Video in select regions.

I am totally loving the Killing Vote! I need more episodes! But I have to wait until next week for episode 4! Gosh this drama is so good! Park Hae Jin is exceptional in The Killing vote!
