The Jengaburu Curse Ending Explained
What was the secret that the Jengaburu Hill was hiding?
In episodes 6 and 7 of The Jengaburu Curse, we learn that there is nothing supernatural taking place in Jengaburu, but more importantly and shockingly, the mines contained uranium ore that the Dutta Mines, headed by seedy businessman Rao, were secretly extracting in an international scandal involving North Korea. Rao, working under these shadowy international organisations, was able to keep the entire mining operation a secret from the government after wiping the Jengaburu hill and the mineral-rich Odisha from the government’s radar since, years ago, he and two other officials were in charge of the inspection.

Who was Beatrice?
Beatrice was a whistleblower who also worked for an international organisation, and she was stationed in Odisha in order to find out what was happening in Jengaburu mines. She had been working and collecting evidence for quite some time and had local connections. However, Priya’s sudden entrance helped her gain a better perspective of the situation since she was able to figure things out that Beatrice has been unable to for this long.
How is Priya, a financial analyst from London, mixed up in all this?
In episode 1 of The Jengaburu Curse, Priya is called back to her hometown by Rao (posing as her father’s close friend) after her father goes missing. When she comes back to Bhubaneshwar, she is heartbroken to find out that the Naxals might have kidnapped her father thanks to his activism, and she holds a press conference to appeal to Naxal Leader Kadey to let her father go.
However, she quickly realises that her father was the head of the Naxals and that he was never kidnapped – he has been in hiding for all this time since the corrupt cops and the Dutta Mines have been after him for months, trying to kill him in order to disband the activists. The reason why her father has been protesting is that thanks to the illegal activities of the mines, the locals have been suffering from very peculiar diseases, including horrible skin diseases, which are causing the tribes to face a horrible death.
However, it turns out that Priya’s need to meet her father was a trap for the police to follow her, and they murder her father in cold blood. Priya is arrested and is asked to go back to London while Kadey, now acting as the leader of the rebellion, goes into hiding. Priya, though, doesn’t take no for an answer and decides to figure out what has been going on behind the closed doors of the mine. Thanks to her resourcefulness and quick wit, and some help from her IAS friend Dhruv Kanan, she is able to tear open the horrible secrets, crimes and the international scam that the Dutta Mines and other parties were trying to pull off.

What happened in the end?
In the end, Priya, the tribals and Dhruv are able to bring to the authority’s notice about Dutta Mines’ illegal activities and the military raids the Mines. Unfortunately, wanting nothing about the mines to be further leaked, Rao, Srinivas and everyone else with an idea about the operations of the mines and who are behind it are killed off. Thankfully, though, Priya has enough evidence for the government to shut everything off completely, and the tribals, although not able to get their lands back, are given a different piece of land to live, thanks to their previous area having a high level of radiations thanks to the uranium.
Unfortunately, saving itself from embarrassment, the government doesn’t release what really happened to Jengaburu and keeps it under wraps in order to stop an international incident from happening. However, as it turns out, with the water and air now clean, the Bondia tribe are now living happier and healthier lives, having been given a clean chit from the government from the ‘Naxal’ tag.
The last scene showcases Priya getting a cryptic text from a private number telling her that she is fierce before the text mysteriously disappears.
The Jengaburu Curse is streaming on SonyLIV.
