The Idol Episode 3 Review
Well, confusion is just the right word you should be feeling after watching the latest episode of The Idol because, what on earth was that (special focus on the last 20 minutes of the episode, of course). The Idol Episode 3 showed a lot of potential, to be very honest. However, somewhere down the dinner table conversation and the hairbrush routine, we all lost what was given to us throughout the episode.
In the third episode of The Idol, the scene starts off differently. It is Tedros who wakes up Jocelyn instead of Leia and, that should say a lot about where Tedros is standing in our titular character’s life. He takes her shopping, takes her musical decision, eats her out- you know, all the rizz he has got, he uses it to pull Jocelyn in closer, so close that he makes the decisions and Joss gives them out.
Leia is, of course, worried and she calls Chiam and Destiny for help. But, the two end up liking Tedros in some manner, mostly because he promises to create hits with Jocelyn in two weeks. The deal ends up being three hits in two weeks. This does not ease Leia’s suspicion or heart. On the other hand, Jocelyn is completely mesmerized by this rape-y lord in her life and, torture porn continues (but, what value it holds at this point is immaterial because it is so cruel). We also see Jocelyn connect with Tedros’ cult members, especially Chloe.

The Idol Episode 3 does a decent job of building a story that takes us somewhere. We get to know Jocelyn for herself for the first time in the show. It is late but, better late than never right? Through this episode, Jocelyn unearths what her mother was like and what it meant to be her daughter. Given the heaviness of this episode, the screenplay too is better than the last two giving us some hope. Nonetheless, the way Daybreak ends really makes you recalibrate your expectations.
The Idol Episode 3: Final Thoughts
If people are still tuning in to watch The Idol, a huge round of applause for them. The show is just short of tolerable at this point. It is circulating around important themes that need to be addressed- the holes in the music industry, the trauma that turns into kink, manipulation and power game and so much more. Sadly, these are only stick out if you look carefully and, not being absorbed in the show well enough to be communicated to the audience.
