The Good Nurse Trailer Breakdown: Eddie Redmayne-Jessica Chastain in a Medical Thriller Based on True Events

On Wednesday night, Netflix dropped the chilling The Good Nurse trailer. It’s a medical crime thriller based on true events and stars Academy Award winners Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain. The movie is based on Charles Graeber’s book called ‘The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder’. The screenplay is by Krysty Wilson-Cairns and helmed by Tobias Lindholm.

The trailer begins with Amy Loughren (Jessica) meeting Charlie Cullen (Eddie) at a restaurant. Amy starts talking about work and how the two were partners as nurses at a hospital, But Charlie tells her he doesn’t want to talk about work. Amy asks him, “Is it because what they are saying is true?” Charlie gives an intense stare to Amy.

The trailer then shifts to everything that led to this conversation. Amy and Charlie work in the same hospital and are good friends. Officer Braun asks Amy about one of her older patients, Ana Martinez. Braun informs Amy that her patient died of double insulin dosage in her system. That’s when the cops ask if Charlie Cullen is involved in this.

The Good Nurse trailer then shifts to a couple who just had a child in the hospital. The woman in the bed is unconscious and has no memory of her baby. It happens because there’s insulin in her system too. That’s when Amy starts getting suspicious about her friend Charlie. The cops inform Amy that Charlie has been at 9 hospitals, hinting that he did the same thing there that led to deaths.

Amy is distraught and starts investigating Charlie’s past by speaking to his ex-colleagues from previous hospitals. One of the individuals tells Amy that there was a rumour about Charlie adding insulin to a dead guy’s saline bag. Amy feels unsafe around whenever Charlie is around.

That’s when Amy joins hands with the cops and risks her own life to find out the truth. The trailer ends at the same restaurant where it begins. It’s a set-up by Amy and the cops to get answers from Charlie without him being suspicious. Is he really the murderer? Will Amy find out the truth? We will get our answers when the movie releases.

The Good Nurse also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, and Kim Dickens. It will be premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022. The movie will release on Netflix on October 26, 2022.
