The Good Bad Mother Episode 14 has fans cheering for a happy ending, Lee Do-hyun’s killer smirk and a family drama that will live in all of our hearts rent-free. Directed by Shim Na-yeon and written by Bae Se-young, the series stars Ra Mi-ran, Lee Do-hyun, Ahn Eun-jin and Yoo In-soo in main roles.
The slice-of-life series (나쁜엄마) follows Young-soon and her son Kang-ho who share a tumultuous relationship with each other thanks to her strict parenting when he was a child. Now an adult, Kang-ho is a cold-hearted prosecutor who chooses to keep his distance from her mother and lives in the city. However, when a tragedy strikes, Kang-ho is forced to return home to the village, wherein he finds a new lease on life and rebuilds his relationship with his mother as well as with his childhood friend Mi-joo.
The Good Bad Mother Finale firstly showcases Kang-ho putting his father’s murderers to trial and uses Tae-soo against Woo-byeok in the most intelligent way. His tricks result in both Tae-soo and Woo-byeok being left shocked and confused, and, in the end, thanks to Ha-young, they are both sent to prison. This is a big win for the entire village, but especially so for Young-soon, who has only dreamt of seeing this day.
This win is enough for Young-soon to be left delighted, and she blesses Mi-joo and Kang-ho and thanks her friends from the village and peacefully dies in Kang-ho’s arms later that night. It’s an emotional moment for the viewers and Kang-ho, who continues to sing for his dead mother even after realising his loss. However, in the end, everyone is left happy and satisfied, and it turns out that Kang-ho and Mi-joo run the farm together, and, in the last scene, Kang-ho proposes to Mi-joo.
The episode ends on a high and gives viewers exactly what they have been looking for. It’s a positive end like no other. Also, what is Lee Do-hyun’s smirk?! Should definitely be some sort of illegal!
