The much-awaited 8th episode of The Eminence in Shadow (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and it has again managed to deliver a delightful watch. We got action, thrill and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.
The Eminence in Shadow Episode 8 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.
The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Trinity Seven, Strike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 8 Review and Recap – Planning The Next Move
Even though battle-wise, this episode was not that intense yet, it managed to keep me hyped till the end. From the very beginning, you see just how broken Cid’s abilities are and how strong he actually is.

But all his powers do not suppress the inner child in him that wishes to experience the side character quests so much. In this episode, he is just having fun pretending to be a mob character and doing everything a mob character would do to stay unnoticed. Sadly for him, he is getting noticed pretty much by everyone.
In the previous episode, we thought Cid would be dead because of an attack, only to be surprised by him restarting his heart with his powers. Even though, because of an artefact, one cannot use their powers in the captured school, Cid manages to bypass that rule by turning his powers into threads.
And then he starts the hunt. He effortlessly kills half of the invaders from the terrace without moving his feet. He knows he is invincible in this world and, thus, relishes in his powers by standing above everyone else.
Midway he even joins forces with Sherry, and devices a plan to save the entire school without direct combat. Sherry, who is too airheaded for her own good, would have died if not for Cid saving her multiple times.

By this time, I was wondering where the actual Shadow Garden members were and whether they would appear in this episode. And they did; we saw Nu delivering the current position of the Shadow Gardens and the future plan to her master Cid.
Other members are on standby and will go ahead with the attack only when Cid orders them to. But Cid tells Nu to hold on till he comes up with the solution regarding the restriction on magic with Sherry. And thus, the Shadow Garden prepares to launch an attack after the sun goes down.
Verdict
This episode was very entertaining as it set the base for the big battle that will take place in the next episode. And it perfectly did its job of making the viewers excited for what will come next. We again get a taste of Cid’s abilities, proving that he is definitely a fit for the protagonist role.
What makes him so relatable is that he actually enjoys his position rather than questioning why certain things are happening. You almost feel like you would be doing the same things in his place. Watch this anime on Netflix.
