Still From The Eminence in Shadow

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead, and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.

The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai SeikatsuTrinity SevenStrike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 17 Review and Recap – Rose The Fugitive

Still From The Eminence in Shadow

The 17th episode of The Eminence in Shadow is here, and we are back with another review. The episode starts with Cid in his average guy persona at the arena fighting off another opponent. Even though he got thrashed, he takes his sweet time to think of what unit he should use to measure his powers. The scene switches to him thinking about the same thing in his room when suddenly he gets disturbed by his friend, who is, as usual, there to bother him.

He informs Cid that there is apparently a bounty on Princess Rose, and suggests they should go and catch her to get some money. While hearing this, Cid is genuinely surprised and even starts to admire the courage of Princess Rose, internally.

Later, with a long monologue, we get a bit more insight into Cid’s past where he reveals that he was forced to play the piano as a child. Even though he hated it at the beginning, he started to love the Moonlight Sonata.

He hears the same melody on the road and discovers that it was only Epsilon, who, like Beta, has plagiarised this piece and calls it her own work. Cid, obviously, is not happy that everybody else is getting famous, utilizing his knowledge.

Up till here, the comedy was pretty decent, and the antics of the characters keep you entertained. It is after Beta and Alexia go into the Royal Capital’s Underground Passages that the main event starts.

This is also where Rose meets our protagonist playing the piano in the middle of ruins creating a gorgeous set fitting for the Black Knight. What goes on between them and how Cid helps her is something you will have to find out yourself.

Verdict

This episode created a new path for Rose, who, in the beginning, came off as just another character. We witnessed how strong she is and how vigorously she feels for her family and kingdom. Now that she has the support of the omnipotent Shadow himself, we can expect great things from her in the future. Watch this anime on Netflix
