The much-awaited 13th episode of The Eminence in Shadow (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and it has again managed to deliver a delightful watch. We got action, comedy and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.
The Eminence in Shadow Episode 13 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.
The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Trinity Seven, Strike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 13 Review and Recap – Return Of Olivier
Today’s episode was definitely the most intense yet. We saw a lot of fighting happening at different places between different characters inside the sanctuary. On one hand, the Archbishop is fighting with Delta with his clones, and on the other hand, Cid and Aurora travel towards the sanctuary’s core and meet their own obstructions.

For the very first time, we see how powerful Delta is as she goes completely berserk while fighting with the Archbishop. Without even thinking of the consequences or that her power is getting stripped away, she tears apart clone by clone.
She is so overwhelmingly strong that Alpha does the bare minimum, hardly fighting while Beta, Rose and Alexia just watch everything unfold. But they are not alone, Cid and Aurora face their own share of problems when they finally reach the core.
The way towards the exit is chained, and only the sword of the hero, Olivier, can break those. Sadly only a direct descendant of the hero can pull that sword out, and even our mighty protagonist fails to draw it with his immense physical powers.
Back with the Archbishop, we see how after not being able to defeat Delta on his own, he calls forth the hero Olivier herself to fight. But at that moment, Alpha and the other Shadow Garden members leave the place with the promise to come back.

The greatest showdown was definitely between Cid and Olivier when the Archbishop and the hero, enter the sanctuary’s core to get rid of the intruders. Cid, after a very long time, laughs when he crosses swords with Olivier, signalling how he is enjoying the fight to the fullest. She is definitely the strongest he has ever fought, and how this battle goes on, you will have to find out after watching the episode.

This episode was more action-packed and did not reveal much about the past. We understood certain aspects, like how the sanctuary works, but we still do not know about Aurora or the hero, Olivier, in detail. Hopefully, they will reveal everything in the next episode, along with the result of the battle between Cid and Olivier.
Verdict
The episode was definitely very engaging as it showed us multiple intense fight sequences that do not shy away from showcasing gore. I love that they don’t only show the power of Cid, but also display how broken the Shadow Garden girls are while fighting their enemies. All in all, it was an entertaining watch with a good cliffhanger that will make you crave the next episode. Watch this anime on Netflix.
