The Devil’s Plan 2 Review
The Devil’s Plan is back again with twisty, brain-teasing games and a ton of politics and backstabbing that will put high school to shame. This season, we get a ton of well-known faces along with a healthy mix of students and an extremely well-known Go player who leaves everyone star-struck. The series takes a bit too long to break down every rule, which they have a lot of, but I think I will give kudos to it as well because it would be impossible to figure it out otherwise for casual viewers at home.
I think the series does a good job of breaking down the games – some are very complicated, the path to winning is a bit too long, but this eclectic group makes it interesting. Every step of the way is spent figuring out whether or not someone will betray someone else, and thus the complications get juicier by the minute. However, I feel like the runtime gets a bit too long sometimes; I mean, every episode is over 60 minutes long! Either way, apart from some frustratingly slow moments, the series does a good job of keeping us hooked.

I think the series jumps right into proving to us everyone’s merits as they plan together to backstab one another. The first episode features a complete game, and although one might feel rather annoyed at first, especially because it goes on for so long, I think the end explanation is absolutely fantastic and makes up for everything that you have to sit through. Some of the players are spoilsports, but you can’t have it all, can you?
Either way, the setting is great, the games are intense, and it’s very interesting to figure out who is betraying whom. The Devil’s Plan 2 brings more players, which heightens the stakes. Everyone’s personalities make the entire thing even more interesting, and one can’t help but find oneself smiling when seemingly harmless things bring up strange clues. I also liked how the contestants refer back to the previous season and compare what’s happening this time. It feels realistic, unlike some other Netflix shows that somehow forget the existence of previous seasons.

I think the main part of the reality TV series is the contestants and their relationship with one another. With a show that depends heavily on trust and betrayals, it does a good job of creating a mystery around everyone. Kyuhyun clearly is the “main character” this time and gets the most screen time. However, I do acknowledge that everyone has their own charm. The series doesn’t sit around making the characters talk to one another, and there’s some mystery or other everyone is trying to solve. All interactions take place through the course of solving the different puzzles, which makes for interesting conversations and not just unnecessary gossip.

In the end, the puzzles made me really think, which isn’t something that happens often. I usually find myself losing patience with most games, mostly because the premise is usually too simple and the contestants make it out to be too big of a deal. It’s interesting, thus, when the series locks us in with the games from the first episode itself. The complexity of the games themselves helps a lot, and the ferocity with which they are delivered one after another will make your heart beat faster!
The last three episodes, released on 20 May 2025, consist of a ton of mind games and shifting loyalties. Viewers will find themselves on edge through the card game and the mental math game, both of which seem extremely taxing. The first, though, is quite entertaining, if only for the fact that it really brings out the competitive side of everyone. The next one is played between Jeong Hyun-gyu and Lee Seung-hyun and is draining just to watch them do mental math! In the end, the series is absolutely shocking, and although I will not give away who wins in the end, it will definitely be satisfying!
Final Thoughts

The Devil’s Plan 2 is a thorough entertainer for everyone who loves brain teasers. The sets are grander, the production quality is better, and the puzzles are more intense. All in all, this season is fantastic and tests loyalties till the end.
