The Clearing Episode 6 Review: The Pied Piper

The Clearing Episode 5 served as Matriah aka Adrienne’s origin story and it gave a lot of perspective to the series and the origin of the cult. Following what happened in the last episode, The Clearing Episode 6 deals with the aftermath of Adrienne’s cult, escape and what happened following the raid.

We get to see that Adrienne was, in fact, captured and taken into prison. As Dr. Lathan was associated with Adrienne, he lost his job in this massacre. This event is unfolding in the past, while Amy aka Freya is pregnant, so one can say that some years have passed since the raid incident. A trial takes place for Adrienne and, the latter pulls all the right strings making sure that she can file for a mistrial, which she does. Eventually, she is let go (this is until they can redo the trial, of course).

In the present timeline, things are getting tense. We saw in the fourth episode, the signs that convinced Freya that Anton was behind the little girl going missing. She confronts him but, gets nothing. This pushes her off the edge and she rushes to the hospital to confront the recovering child. However, the meeting misfires when she hears a triggering sentence that is related to her time at The Kindred.

Throughout The Clearing Episode 6, Freya is helpless in so many ways that it hurts to see her struggle. And, as she is fighting her demons, Anton, Adrienne and Dr. Lathan are on a different mission. The scary mission is bringing The Kindred back to life and, we see a scary glimpse of it coming true.

The Clearing Episode 6: Final Thoughts

The Clearing Episode 6 was a rushed episode. Not that things were not laid out properly but, the pacing was fast to build a sense of tension i the viewers. Especially the last ten minutes of the episode were terror, with Freya being triggered and discovering at the end what she does. However, there are certain closures the show should be offering by now, such as what happened to Sara. Given that it is not, it might be a part of the bigger and more major narrative in this show.
