The Clearing Episode 5 Review: Maitreya

Like the episode name suggests, The Clearing Episode 5 circles around our power character- Adrienne and, how she became Matriah. This episode weighs a different deal in the lot and, as we it through more than half of the show, this episode feels just right.

The Clearing Episode 5 is a flashback episode to show us Adrienne’s journey. Hard to believe but, she used to be a regular person back in the 1970s. A job, a husband, a life that is mundane but, doable. Until one day, things changed for her after a yoga session. During an unsuspecting yoga session, Adrienne sees a flash of her potential future where she sees herself crying over her husband, Thomas’ grave.

After receiving this ominous message pops into her head, she returns to a messy house to find Thomas upset. He has discovered Adrienne being on birth control pills without his knowledge which enrages him. He leaves the house and, the next thing you know is Adrienne being informed by the police that her husband has passed away in an accident. Spooky? Weird? Strange?- none of these words even begin to cover what happens next.

Adrienne takes this as a sign and launches herself into her ‘Matriah’ journey. In America, she creates a segment of the American dream and lives it. This si where she comes across Dr. Lanthan and, attracts his attention by predicting something about him and his wife, Tasmin. As predicted, it is all true and, Lanthan and Tasmin take a deep interest in Adrienne’s work, promoting her to become Matriah, once and for all.

The Clearing Episode 5: Final Thoughts

The Clearing Episode 5 is, downright, crazy. It has all the right elements of suspense and surprise. Additionally, it has Miranda Otto being an absolute queen on screen. It is mesmerizing and, by far this one is the best episode in the series so far. Moreover, this one was an important episode to let us into the life of the character who built this cult in the first place.
