The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 Episode 8 Overview

The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 Episode 8 Title

The Case Study of Vanitas, or Vanitas no Carte in original Japanese, is a supernatural, historical, and vampire show based upon a manga written by Jun Mochizuki. It follows the human-vampire duo of Vanitas and Noe as they try to find out the perpetrator behind the recent impurity in the vampires’ hearts. This episode is also called Vanitas no Carte Season 2 Episode 8, The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 Episode 8, and Vanitas no Carte Part 2 Episode 8.

This season of Vanitas is being brought to the medium of anime by Studio Bones, a giant behind classic anime shows such as Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and My Hero Academia. The season is being directed by Tomoyuki Itamura, who also directed part 1 of the show, alongside several shows of the Monogatari series. Jeanne The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 Episode 8

It is truly admirable how seamlessly this show is able to change its gears. Just in the last episode, we dealt with the fallout of a revenge story gone bad and a plan that was being constructed for years coming down upon an individual. We also explored another character whose family was massacred by a vampire in a gruesome way, and they had to watch them die with their own young eyes. All of this happened as Vanitas and Noe fought for their lives to save the lives of several others.

And here we are, in the very next episode, with an entire outing that was pure comedy and not much else. While the show always has some moments of low-poly humour inserted within most episodes, there are a few times when the show goes headfirst, with no hesitation into pure comic relief territory accompanied by a few moments of genuine emotions sprinkled alongside. These parts are genuinely the best part of the show and are a huge reason behind why the show is so popular.

Vanitas Lovesick The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 Episode 8

This comes up whenever comedy is discussed, but it is necessary to see the sheer number of people who disagree with opinions on comedy. Comedy is subjective, and no two people are ever going to have the same opinion on everything related to it. With that huge preamble, I can finally say that the comedy in The Case Study of Vanitas is fantastic and works well with the show’s art style and pacing. While inserting it everywhere can come across as a bit tone-deaf, it is fantastic in instances like the latest episode where it is the sole focus of the show.

Love was also a big part of this episode, as it focused on Vanitas and Jeanne trying to deal with their growing feelings for each other. They both react to this happening oppositely, giving the situation even more hilarity. The supporting cast to the duo was also written spectacularly, especially the chausser Roland. He has never stood out or made sense as a character in the show, and his turn was too abrupt for it to feel earned. However, he was a great part of this outing and added a lot to the whole experience. There is a lot of potential for the character if explored properly.

This outing was perhaps the best in this entire season so far, which says more about the season being lacklustre than the episode being especially good. While both of these statements are true, it would be preferable to have a good season with some mediocre episodes than the other way around. The formula of these episodes started and ended with dark moments that flip the script is also running a little tired, and the next time the show does, it will be one time too much. The animation also looked gorgeous here, which turned out to be a phenomenal outing.

Verdict

The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 Episode 8 was the show’s best episode so far. It was funny and lighthearted with some sinister undertones. Things are finally looking up for the show!
