‘The Blackout’ by Premier Studios Sold to More than 90 Countries

The Blackout is a sci-fi post-apocalyptic thriller which is now going to be distributed in more than 90 countries. The countries that are included in the list are the U.S. and China. The Blackout was directed by Egor Baranov, who also happens to be the director of the popular fantasy-horror trilogy Gogol.

iQiyi is a Chinese streaming service which has secured the streaming of this film. iQiyi, along with U.S. distributor Shout, has picked up this film now. Russian company Central Partnership has been handling the international distribution of the film. 

The Blackout will be one of the first movies to be released in Japan post the quarantine. There will be a theatrical release of this film across places in Japan. The Blackout is all set to make its theatrical release in Japan on the 12th of June 2020.

There will be a couple of other international releases which includes South Korea (Eleven Ent.), France (Koba Films), Germany (Splendid Film), Italy (Minerva Pictures), Spain (Mediaset), Scandinavia (Mis.Label), the former Yugoslavia territories (Stars Media), Poland (Telewizja Polsat), Turkey (ATV), and Brazil (Encripta).

The film’s promotion event is organised by the Russian film promotion company Roskino with the help from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Moscow’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development and Moscow Export Center. Mediaset in Spain, Polsat in Poland and ATV in Turkey has decided to pick up the rights of the film.

The Blackout, which is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, is a story set in a military outpost which is preparing for a fight against an unidentified enemy that is destroying all life on the planet but has not attacked anybody from a small area in the Eastern European region. 

The movie shows that there is a blackout that has hit the Earth which has made the military venture beyond the unattached area only to find something shocking. There is a toxin produced in the bodies of humans by themselves which is causing them to die. Scientists try to figure out this mystery of who is trying to destroy all life on Earth and how to make mankind survive.

The Blackout is written by Ilya Kulikov who is also responsible for writing the show Chernobyl: Zone of Exclusion. The soundtrack has been created by Mike Shinoda, the frontman of Linkin Park. The Blackout was produced by Valeriy Fedorovich and Evgeniy Nikishov for Premier Studios.
