Tell Me Lies Episode 9 is out now. Created by Meaghan Oppenheimer, the series is based on the 2018 book of the same name by Carola Lovering. The latest episode is directed by Ed Lilly with a script from Samir Mehta.

Tell Me Lies stars Grace Van Patten as Lucy Albright, Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco, Catherine Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Sonia Mena as Pippa, Branden Cook as Evan, Benjamin Wadsworth as Drew and Alicia Crowder as Diana. Similar to the previous episodes, the ninth episode also has a runtime of 40-50 minutes.

Tell Me Lies Episode 9: Sugar, We’re Going Down Swinging

It is finally time to address the question: Is it only Stephen who is toxic towards Lucy or does the latter also reciprocate? The answer comes clear in Tell Me Lies Episode 9 which shows how relationships are like falling cards as they fail to stand the test of time and loyalty.

It is well known that Wrigley, Stephen, Pippa and Lucy know about the reality behind Macy’s death. But, it is a confusing point when police officers knock at Drew’s door about Macy’s death after they have been directed to do so by a weird email. Who has written this mail? Except for Wringely, the audience can, of course, put their bet on any of the other characters. Sure, it isn’t until the very end of the episode that we get to confront the culprit.

But, that is not all Tell Me Lies Episode 9 has to offer. This episode just really goes on to show the ends Lucy can go to. From putting her mother in her story and seeking her help to back her when it is detected for plagiarism to having a roll of events with Stephen and Pippa, Lucy can actually be the main villain of this story. She is blind in love, yes but, she is also equally traumatizing to Stephen as he is to her.

Lucy and Stephen’s relationship just continue to take a dark turn at every instance and there is no one to stop them or make them understand where they are going wrong. Bree could be a voice of reason as we see in this episode but, Lucy’s determination to have Stephen just beats it. Meanwhile, a dangerous accident lands Wrigley in the hospital and if you track it backwards, Lucy or more like, Lucy and Stephen’s relationship might just be the root cause for it.

Tell Me Lies Episode 9: Final Thoughts

However, the question still remains- where is Tell Me Lies heading? With only one other episode left to go, one can clearly put their money on the fact that the makers are aiming to expand the season. At this point in the show, both Lucy and Stephen are unaware of their toxic love and are blind to everything else. Clearly, this season isn’t aiming to give us the closure of Lucy and Stephen’s eventual relationship that we will witness at the future wedding of Bree and Stephen.

Although, Tell Me Lies Episode 9 did give some amount of clarity about what might have separated Pippa and Wrigley and why Wrigley ended up in the future the way he did. The ninth episode was a deep and dark ride with an unnatural villain at the end having the last laugh or kiss, however, you want to view it. Hopefully, the finale will be strong enough to keep the viewers engaged and possibly be a wrap on Macy’s death as the subplot has been stretched way too much to provide a sense of mystery to the storyline.

You can watch Tell Me Lies Episode 9 now streaming on Hulu.

The show is scheduled to get a weekly release, every Wednesday with the next and final episode arriving on October 26th 2022. To read our review of the previous episodes of the show, click here.

  1. Stephen is the master but Lucy has cosigned onto his evil machinations and has became a participant. She has shown a stunning lack of empathy and has let her friends take the fall for things her actions. She is a bad bad person, a Bonnie to Clyde in her relationship and already a self involved t-waffle on her own. She is drawn to and complicit in toxicity and everyone pays the price. The problem is. I don’t care what happens to her anymore. I don’t root for her to figure it out because she is just a bad apple. Not as rotten as Stephen but pretty damn putrid. The triumph of the story would be if Pippa, Bree, Evan and even Wrigley dumped their destructive friends. I can’t imagine why Bree would want Stephen or Lucy at the wedding.
