Ted Lasso Season 3 Finale Reactions: Emotional Callbacks and Musical Number Make Tears Rain Down

Ted Lasso Season 3 finale reactions are out on Twitter now that the new episode has premiered. The Apple TV+ series has been developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly. It stars Sudeikis as Lasso, Hunt as Coach Beard, Hannah Waddhingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, and Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion alongside others.

Titled ‘So Long, Farewell, Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 12 dropped on Apple TV+ on May 31, 2023. Its official synopsis reads: “Season finale. AFC Richmond play their final match of the season.” It has been written by Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly and Jason Sudeikis.

It’s hard to say where the next chapter is headed. Putting on the looks of a supposed series finale, with Apple TV+ rather claiming it to be a season finale, Episode 12 of the sport dramedy’s third instalment has left behind a huge pool of tears. In Season 2, Ted and the Richmond players had their big plans to send off Dr Sharon Fieldstone with NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, but they all got watered down ultimately as Fieldstone took the silent exit before that could happen. However, with the Season 3 finale, the team, including Roy (even if in the background) put on the Sound of Music musical number, So Long, Farewell, which also takes shape as the episode title.

The shocking yet endearing moment had Will holding up the boombox in full John Cusack style, while Sam, Isaac, Jamie, Dani, and Colin led the rest of the team in their performance later to be joined in by the club’s fans in jubilance of Ted appreciating their “perfect” landing.

Not prepared for the emotional ending, fans of the show took to Twitter as always to tweet out their spoiler-filled reactions on the feed. While some conveyed their sentimental responses through memes, others particularly pointed out the callbacks to previous episodes and seasons of the show, that further heightened the experience of the finale episode.

While Roy-Keeley and Tedbecca’s ships may not have received their romantic conclusions in the finale, Coach Beard and Jane most definitely did. However, viewers didn’t hold back from critiquing this move on the part of the writers who instead chose to push for the “most toxic ship of the show”. Another message that rose to the top among these reactions was one with a rather fruity language – “Thank you and f*ck you” – extended to the writers from the audience who stuck through it all with the show, and couldn’t thank the creators for making a series that made them cry like there was no tomorrow.
