Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 Overview
Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 (구미호뎐 1938) is a sequel to the much-loved fantasy Kdrama of the same named and is directed by Kang Shin-hyo and Jo Nam-hyung. The Kdrama stars Lee Dong-wook, Kim So-yeon, Kim Bum, Ryu Kyung-soo, Kim Young-ji, and Hwang Hee alongside other cast members.
The sequel brings the gumiho Lee Yeon away from his happy ending and back to the year 1938 where he once again comes face to face with his brother Lee Rang and Ryu Hong-joo. Now, he has to find a way to return to the present and to his loved one, but this isn’t something that will come to him easily.
Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:20 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Pandora Beneath the Paradise.

The synopsis of the show reads: “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 tells the story where Lee Yeon was dragged back in time to the year 1938 unexpectedly due to certain events that happened after the end of season 1, where he met Lee Rang and Ryu Hong-joo of that era.”

Ryuhei Kato demands the treasures in exchange for the lives he has in his captive. A wedding begins at Bando Hotel, however, it soon turns into a blood bath as Yeon and Ryuhei Kato’s final battle begins. Elsewhere, Rang and Hong-joo try to save their loved ones while the Yeon of this era is ready to appear.

Yeon, Hong-joo and Moo-young escape the painting to find themselves in another illusion. The leader of the mercenaries shows up and makes the other two attack each other in front of Yeon, however, the fox has a trick up his sleeve. He makes the mercenaries attack their leader and brings Hong-joo and Moo-young out of the hypnosis only to have Moo-young steal the golden ruler from him.
Yeon spends the next two days preparing for his return while others have preparations of their own to make. With Ryuhei Kato plans to face the fox head-on, Eun-ho is ready to blow up the Bando Hotel along with the man she is to marry. Meanwhile, Moo-young revives a danger for the world.
The original mountain god is revealed to have tricked him this whole time for his revival. While Yeon rushes to stop him, he is too late as Moo-young is on his dying breath. Meanwhile, Yuki and Oogama capture Yeo-hee and Jae-yoo which leaves Rang distressed.
