Created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, the latest JioCinema Hindi series is receiving a massive round of applause as noted through the Taali reactions registered on X (formerly Twitter). Starring Sushmita Sen as the transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant, the show has been directed by Ravi Jadhav, written by Kshitij Patwardhan and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar and Afeefa Suleman Nadiadwala.

Releasing on the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day on August 15, 2023, the biopic series has 6 episodes as it records the brave and resilient journey of Sawant who led the iconic battle of the third gender’s inclusion on every official Indian document. The JioCinema original series also stars Ankur Bhatia, Nandu Madhav, Krutika Deo, Suvrat Joshi and others in significant roles.

Now streaming free on the platform, as the show premiered during the early morning hours, many people have already watched it, and have spilled their personal takes on the inspiring series based on true events. Sen is particularly being lauded for her choice of playing this challenging role to perfection. Not only has she nailed the performance, the fact that she rose above to take on a different path as opposed to the conventional mainstream choices made by many Bollywood actors has especially blown away the audience.
