Summer Time Render Episode 13 Review- Surprise!

We begin this episode as we are phased back in time after Shinpei brutally took his own life to have another chance at saving everyone. For multiple reasons, a new loop here is always more consequential in this show than in other time loop-based stories. For one, there is a lot of time between loops that help provide a lot more context to what is going on. For another, the chance of winning that our duo possesses might still be in the negatives, making when the next loop is going to come that much more unpredictable. Any loop could be the last one, and that’s what makes it exciting.

The new loop wasn’t all that was new about this episode. We seem to officially be in the second half or the second cour of the series, as symbolised by the brand new opening and ending themes. It is going to take some getting used to these, so we’ll talk about them in a later review. However, the ones that the show previously had fit the mysterious and unnerving nature of the start of the series perfectly and were great songs to boot. These new ones also seem to symbolise something but give off a different feeling than the originals.

It boggles the mind how the show has retained all the mystery and terror that were naturally present in the original episodes and has kept the magic alive all this time. The story remains as fresh and welcoming as ever, and the pace hasn’t slowed down for a second. There is a new secret either revealed or created in every episode in a manner that doesn’t feel forced. Everything still makes sense, and no episode has showcased the consistency better than the latest one.

Every time the loop resets, we see a little of what made the previous loops act the way they did. Whether it be a reveal or a new character motivation, there are new puzzle pieces to the world that we can only see when the timeline resets, but each reset hurts the characters so bad that it is greedy to wish for them. There is a delicate balance between knowledge and suffering that has been maintained very well, and you just know that our characters aren’t going to be on top for even a second without paying for it dearly.

Things are not letting up for the viewers anytime soon as this episode was another violent and gory one. If you were one of those who believed that looping was a fool-proof hack to solve all of our protagonist’s problems, you have another thing coming in this episode. This was another fantastic twist to the plot, which is now more nuanced than anyone could have imagined before starting this show. Hizuru is turning out to be more of a riddle than anyone could have thought of, and every episode based around her has been a good one so far. This one and the next one should be no different.
Verdict
Summer Time Render Episode 13 signified a new start for the series in the form of violence, secrets and mysteries. It can be said that this was exactly as good as the series has been so far, and that is very.
