BTS Suga and IU make for an adorable pair of same-age friends from the K-pop scene who have collaborated with each other on more than one occasion; Suchwita Episode 24 is set to mark their onscreen reunion yet again. Although physically away from the music scene, Suga is off completing his mandatory military duties, but he’s made sure to keep his fans and the BTS ARMYs preoccupied with the sporadic premieres of his web talk series (신동엽) that first premiered back in 2022.
As is widely known, the show’s title is short for “‘Time to get drunk with SUGA”, and each of its new episodes features a different prominent celebrity, generally pandering to the Hallyu wave. For the 24th entry, the D-Day singer will be reuniting with his long-time friend IU (aka Lee Ji-eun), as has been teased by the newly released teaser for the upcoming episode. Set to release on December 26, 2023, (Tuesday) at 10 PM KST on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel, Episode 24, will catch the 93-liner friends engaging in amicable banter that goes back and forth and has for so long held a soft spot in each of their fans’ hearts.
Although the teaser has been edited cleverly to hide IU’s face and identity, the editing wasn’t smart enough as fans are likely to catch on to the obvious hints dropped in the video as to who the next guest star will be. The video may as well have been captioned that the episode will feature IU, because the background music cueing Suga’s song, People Pt.2 (feat. IU), from his 2023 solo album D–DAY makes it more than obvious.
Additionally, the duo is seen lightheartedly squabbling about which of their respective fanclubs consists of better singers. Forget fans contesting to see which artist has better vocals, here the idols themselves will be the judge of which group of fans makes for better vocalists!
In addition to complementing their fandoms, the pair also goes on to appreciate each other’s winning qualities as musicians, and can be seen rooting for each other as their number one fans. As they catch up with each other, they’ll be sharing drinks during their candid talks in Suchwita Episode 24, presented as a late Christmas gift for the fans. IU and Suga have also collaborated for the former’s nostalgic digital single, Eight, in the year 2020. Moreover, Suga was also seen as a guest star on IU’s web show, IU’s Palette Episode 19.
