The 74th Emmy Awards, hosted a big and historic night, recognizing excellence in television programming and individual achievement for the 2021-2022 television season. Broadcasting live from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, it featured awards in 25 Emmy categories, presented by top talent from some of TV’s most acclaimed programs. Succession

Succession is a satirical black comedy-drama series created by Jesse Armstrong. It won the Outstanding Drama Series award at the 74th Emmys 2022. Power, politics, money, it’s all in the family in this award-winning, provocative, funny series about a highly dysfunctional dynasty.

When Logan Roy, CEO of one of the world’s largest media and entertainment conglomerates, considers retirement, each of his four grown children follows a personal agenda that doesn’t always sync with those of their siblings, or of their father. Starring Hiam Abbass, Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold, Matthew Macfadyen and others, the show is available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar or HBO Max.

Ted Lasso

The series won the Outstanding Comedy Series award for a consecutive second year in a row, while MJ Delany took the Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Jason Sudeikis also won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award at the Emmys. It is a sports comedy-drama series.

Ted Lasso, is an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team in an attempt by its owner to spite her ex-husband. Lasso tries to win over the sceptical English market with his folksy, optimistic demeanour while dealing with his inexperience in the sport. You can watch the show on Apple TV+.

The White Lotus

The White Lotus is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various employees and guests at an exclusive Hawaiian resort over the span of one highly transformative week. As darker dynamics emerge with each passing day, this biting six-episode series gradually reveals the complex truths of the seemingly picture-perfect travellers, cheerful hotel employees, and idyllic locale itself.​

Created, written, and directed by Mike White, it is executive produced by Mike White, David Bernad, and Nick Hall. The White Lotus took home most of the awards with a double-digit number of 10, including the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. You can watch the show on HBO Max or Disney+ Hotstar.

Abbott Elementary

Abbott Elementary is a workplace comedy following a group of dedicated, passionate teachers and a slightly tone-deaf principal as they navigate the Philadelphia public school system. The ensemble cast includes Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

The show won 3 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. You can watch the show on Disney+.

Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrls

In this show Multi-platinum Music Icon Lizzo is in search of her next Big Grrl dancers as she heads into her 2022 tour. 13 hopefuls arrive in Hollywood, CA, to leave it all on the floor for a chance to be chosen to take centre stage at the Bonnaroo music festival. The stakes are high for the hopefuls and Icon herself as this will be her first time performing in front of a stadium crowd in two years.

The show won an Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program and in total took away 3 awards in their bag. The show is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
