While there was already some instability with the Stray Kids fan meet happening in China, this laser pointer event involving a fan made it even more concerning. Previously, Lee Felix was targeted on Weibo by a user who had shared messages involving Hyunjin as well. Threats are common within the K-pop community. It is quite possible that the entertainment agency didn’t take this threat seriously because of the commonality. However, that didn’t stop fans from expressing their concern over social media.
The online community had rallied for either extra protection or cancellation of the event altogether. So before the YZY offline fan sign event, users on various social media platforms had reached out and created an online movement for the protection of Stray Kids. JYP Entertainment was the main target of this movement. Even now, most of the tweets and replies are directed towards the entertainment agency. Many fans feel like they haven’t taken enough security measures for a very real threat.
In the threatening messages, the user had explained that they would be using the laser pointer to point at Felix’s eyes to make sure there would be permanent blindness. While death threats are quite far-fetched, many fans felt like this could actually happen. In accordance, while members Felix and Bang Chan were trying to sit in the car, there was a flash of red by their side. This video amassed wide viewership and has since been circulated to call out JYPE.
Initial threats towards Felix started last month, in June of 2023, when the fan sign event was scheduled. With the situation handled terribly, many fans are not just asking for better protection but even legal action against the users who have been sharing these images and posts. It had garnered over 2000 likes at that time and was growing. Other posts by the same user threatened one member to warn against another member from the same band being threatened.
The messages tagged below share just a sliver of the fury STAY members have been feeling with this threatening event. They have been sharing many template messages, with pictures calling out the group and sharing their grievances in the most formal way possible. This online movement has now become its own trending topic and even shared stern messages with some hate online for both the entertainment agency and the user.

Fan Reactions to Stray Kids Members Accosted By Fans
This band was born through a reality competition started by JYPE back in 2017. They are a Japanese and Korean Pop band making music in both languages and culture-specific genres. The group is composed of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. While they have been consistently releasing music since then, they most recently released the album 5-Star. It contains 12 songs, including, Hall of Fame, S-Class, ITEM, Super Bowl, TOPLINE, DLC, GET LIT, Collision, FNF, Youtiful, THE SOUND, and Mixtape: Time Out.

When I saw the video where they hurt Felix with a laser, I was very sad because of this, why aren’t the boys spared from these evil intentions, they lack protection. I’m annoyed that the JYP team didn’t do anything
