Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital Review
2011’s found footage horror film, Grave Encounters, was a memorable experience for many. Despite its unending jump scares, it was a solid horror film that left many screaming. Following a similar route was Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, the South Korean film that was also solid entertainment, and now we have Strange Frequencies, which follows the tried and tested route and comes out being moderately fine.
The thing with these found footage films is that if you’ve seen one, chances are that you have seen all the others. Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital feels like that because all of its horror elements are almost similar, if not the same, as every other found footage horror film. From the greedy producer who is okay with putting his team’s lives in danger to the slowly escalating jumpscares, finding secret corridors and evidence of some dark rituals that we never get to know more about, the film follows some obvious beats that feel a bit boring at this point.

I think the actors do a good job with the script that they are given, but the thing is that there’s literally nothing new here that differentiates it from other similar films. I found myself quite bored at times, especially with the unnecessary bickering at every point. And, in some sequences, I wondered whether or not these people have ever watched any horror movies in their lives for them to make the decisions that they do. Some decisions are so stupid that they make you want to see these people get haunted by the demons.
Anyway, the film brings to light how greedy streamers have become, to the point that they don’t think about the well-being of others around them. Clicks and views have become the most important part of our lives, to the point that someone dying isn’t all that important or shocking.
Final Thoughts

Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital is fine, but nothing new. There are many better found footage horror films out there that capture the terrors of being stuck in a terrible situation of their own making. In the end, it’s a fun time with friends, but it hardly brings anything else to the table.
