Cruel Intentions

This 1999 film is a cult classic when it comes to understanding sex and relationship. The story follows two rich prep school students on summer vacation who make a bet about whether the guy will be able to get this girl to sleep with him. Albiet, the girl, has taken the decision to save herself until marriage. With everyone being good-looking and making controversial decisions, this film adds a layer of psychology to how we think of sex and love. Cruel Intentions is streaming on Paramount Plus.

After

The only thing left is to go through the good, the bad and the ugly with him. After is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The Hating Game

They have to decide how much can their personal and professional life mix before they make some irreversible decision. The Hating Game is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Once again, this film series continues to be a classic for people who enjoy erotica. It paved the way to understanding kinks, fetishes and BDSM as a genre. The story follows our protagonist Anastasia who is stepping in for her friend to interview Christian Grey. However, she doesn’t exactly get an interview in return. Christian Grey has something else in mind. He starts pursuing her, and Anastasia is ready to be courted. As she finds out things from his past, he becomes more elusive and dangerous. Deep Water

The film stars Ana De Armas and Ben Affleck in the leading roles, while Jacob Elordi supports these characters in this tantalising story. Deep Water is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Elisa & Marcela

Chronicling the first same-sex marriage in Spain, this film is based on two women who intend to be together, but the confines of society don’t let that happen. In order to work around this prejudice, Elisa dresses up as a man, and the couple moves out of town to start their new life together. However, the people in the town find out about their lives and put them in prison. Apart from the mental anguish caused by this violence, the townspeople also force Elisa to prove herself a man. Elisa & Marcela is streaming on Netflix.

Closer

Closer is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Magic Mike

Channing Tatum’s magnum opus is Magic Mike, which follows a male stripper trying to make some easy cash and start his own entrepreneurship. Till then, he will continue to make his money off stripping and giving ladies a good time. Mike takes in a protege named Adam, who becomes a hit with the women, but soon, all that success threatens to ruin his relationship with his sister and other people around him. Magic Mike is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Shame

This story follows Brandon, who is a sex addict working in Manhattan. His life is controlled by the tendencies he chooses to indulge in and that causes serious problems in his life. When his sister, Sissy, moves into his apartment, he is forced to come to terms with the life he is living and the consequences that has on the relationship with his sister. It is a critically acclaimed movie starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan in leading roles. Shame is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

All these films come from different genres and explore different aspects of the human condition from the perspective of sex and desire. It is interesting to see some films portray physical intimacy as a pearly secret while others treat it to be the base tendency of the human condition.
