Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 5 Review: In Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 5, Anya wins a cruise trip of a lifetime. However, it is not a usual family vacation as Yor is employed on a top-secret mission. Spy x Family Season 2 (スパイファミリー) is directed by Takahiro Harada and written by Ichirō Ōkouchi, replacing Kazuhiro Furuhashi as both the director and writer. Produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, the anime series is based on the manga series of the same name authored by Tatsuya Endo. The opening theme song is Kurakura (クラクラ) by Ado and the ending theme song is Todome no Ichigeki (トドメの一撃) by Vaundy feat. Cory Wong.

(K)now Name gives the music, and character designs by Kazuaki Shimada, while Kazuaki Shimada alongside Kyoji Asano are chief animation directors. The series is licensed for streaming by Crunchyroll outside of Asia, while it is distributed by Muse Communication in South and Southeast Asia.

The plot of the series revolves around a family of three, who hide their identities from each other. It consists of an undercover spy, Twilight, with the alias, Loid Forger. His adopted daughter who has telepathic abilities, Anya Forger and his wife Yor Forger, an assassin known as the Thorn Princess, and the family dog Bond with precognitive power.

The new episode explores Yor and her secret identity, Thorn Princess. The audience has often seen her fighting where she shows off her incredible skills. She becomes a totally different person when she embraces her other personality, a ruthless killer with inhuman power who showcases no mercy. However, she becomes a rather lovable and caring person in real life who cares about her family the most.

Nevertheless, Yor only kills the bad guys and wants to end evil in the society. Usually, she is given to assassinate a target but this time her job is to protect one. It is quite a different task and causes her some trouble, but with her vigour and amazing skills, she manages to complete the mission with ease.

The story continues to showcase interesting aspects which the audience very rarely gets to witness in an ordinary spy show. The display of family dynamics who have their own individual motives and intentions and how they manage to maintain a harmonious relationship with each other is rather fascinating. Moreover, humour remains one of the main aspects of the storytelling process which keeps it entertaining and fresh.

From the high-stakes espionage missions to the heartwarming family moments, every scene is brought to life with an impeccable attention to detail. The character expressions are a true highlight, effortlessly conveying a wide range of emotions, from humour to suspense, adding depth and relatability to the characters.
